Valus Tau'rig was a powerful Cabal Centurion and Valus of the Totality Division. They were encountered in the Oblation: Bloodline Exotic Mission commanding a powerful contingent of Totality Division forces in an effort to seize Dredgen Cull's former Weapon of Sorrow Cull's Shadow on behalf of Dredgen Bael.[1]

Gameplay[edit]

Upon entering the main room within the Soulfire Crux, a kneeling Knight tithing to Cull's Shadow will be obliterated by Tau'rig, and the boss fight begins.

Tau'rig will grab Cull's Shadow, and attempt to tame it. They also immediately call in a detachment of eight Totality Legionaries, four from each side, and two Totality Electi Colossi, one on each side, to overwhelm the Guardian. While they are doing so, they do not leave the center of the arena, instead standing still and utilizing the Weapon of Sorrow against the Guardian.

Upon dealing an ample amount of damage to Tau'rig, and optionally choosing to eliminate their Cabal reinforcements, Tau'rig will be surrounded by three immune Wizards. These Wizards will pour Soulfire into Tau'rig until the Valus is corrupted, and turns against their own troops, transforming into Tau'rig, the Corrupted. As soon as the Wizard's disappear, a horde of Thrall will appear and will attempt to overwhelm both the Guardian and the Cabal, if they are still alive.

Following their corruption, Tau'rig will become immune, and in order to break their immunity, the Guardian must check each of three rooms where a Soulfire Vessel will be located, surrounded by Acolytes and a trio of Pyre Cantors. As the Guardian is locating the Vessel, Tau'rig will use "Soulfire Detonations" in an effort to stop them in their tracks. An effective method for locating the Vessel is to observe the Pyre Cantors as they depart the center of the arena for the room containing the Vessel. After damaging the Vessel, defeat it with a Finisher or a melee attack to claim the 'Soulfire Charge' buff for twenty seconds. Once you have the buff, return to the center of the arena and step into the Soulfire source that Tau'rig is tithing to. This will deposit the charge and render Tau'rig vulnerable.

Once vulnerable, Tau'rig will attack and summon waves of Hive enemies, including Thrall, Acolytes, Knights, and an Ogre. When Tau'rig reaches half-health, the invincibility shield will return; repeat the previous process to break it again. Keep in mind that in the second phase, they will call in even more Hive reinforcements, this time calling in two more Ogres. Eventually, Tau'rig will fall and the first portion of the Exotic Mission will be completed, awarding the Guardian with the Cull's Shadow Exotic weapon.
