"That Vex Mind was controlling the flow of Radiolaria. Without it, the assimilation of Kepler will stall."
The Ghost[1]

Meridi and Didyo, the Assimilating Minds is a Vex Mind of the Nessian Schism found on Kepler where it is overseeing the control of Radiolaria to assimilate Kepler into a Machine World. It must be tracked down and destroyed as part of the The Gorge Strangelet quest in order to stall the assimilation of Kepler.[1]

It can also be engaged and destroyed to complete the encounter and receive a loot cache during regular Patrols.

Gameplay[edit]

Meridi and Didyo can be found in one of the deepest parts of The Gorge where it is protected by an immunity shield. To bring this shield down, Guardians must get past the Assimilating Minds and travel up the pathway behind it and destroy a Cyclops guarding a Vex Lens that powers Meridi and Didyo's immunity shield. Destroying the Cyclops and the lens makes the Vex Minds vulnerable until it reaches half health in which it will summon another security lens in the same spot to reactivate its immunity shield. After this it will also summon Goblins with the Matterspark Bane to reinforce it and seal off the pathway to the lens with security lasers. To get around these lasers, Guardians must kill a pair of Hobgoblins and use the Mattermorph locked behind the barrier they guard to create a pathway above the security lasers. Destroy the cyclops and lens one more time and Meridi and Didyo will able to be destroyed.

Trivia[edit]

  • This Vex Mind has a name indicating it is two separate independent Vex within its chassis at once, being Meridi and Didyo respectively. Being they're called the Assimilating Minds, it is possible one assimilated the other or it was done mutually. Though these possibilities are not confirmed, nor if it truly is two separate independent Vex consciousnesses.
