Bane

From Destinypedia, the Destiny wiki

Banes are a combatant-oriented PvE modifier introduced in Episode: Revenant that grants a special ability to any combatants except for Champions and bosses. These Banes are found exclusively in higher difficulty activities like Legend Nightfalls and are randomized. Banes are identified by a colored orb or arc floating above their head. They can also be noted by their lack of shield as all Banes lose their Absorption Shields. Even combatants who gain one in higher difficulty activities. Prior to Edge of Fate, all Banes could still have Absorption shields.

List of Banes

Added in Episode: Revenant

  • Meteors - No longer limited to Ignovun, Chosen of Caiatl, combatants with the Meteor bane will send out tracking Solar meteors. Destroy or dodge them quickly.[1]
    • Meteor Combatants send out 3 Solar projectiles every so often. Projectiles have a long tracking range and deal moderate Solar daamge upon contact. These projectiles cannot target Invisible players, and can be destroyed. Suppression does not stop the spawning of these projectiles in anyway.
    • (for a similar ability, see Ignovun, Chosen of Caiatl)
  • Shock - Combatants with the Shock bane build up a charge over time, dealing massive Arc damage to a single Guardian on the field. [2]
    • Guardians at a moderate range or out of line of sight will break the deployed arc tether, obviously killing the Bane will remove the tether. This Bane cannot target invisible players and Suppression temporarily disables accumulation of Arc charge.
  • Mines - Combatants with the Mines bane drop several exploding mines upon being defeated. Tread carefully and watch your step. [3]
    • Land Mines can be manually destoryed by any source of damage. If Suppression is used on the Mines Bane, they will not spawn mines on death so long as they die while supressed.
  • Drain - Combatants with the Drain bane will sap health from Guardians in their line of sight. Move between cover and dispatch them quickly.[4]
    • Guardians at a long range or out of line of sight will remove the Umbral Drain Debuff, obviously killing the Bane will remove the debuff. This Bane cannot target invisible players and Suppression temporarily removes the debuff.
    • Most source of Healing for Players will negate this debuff. This Bane cannot kill you with its effect alone.
  • Healing - Combatants with the Healing Bane will passively regenerate health for nearby allies. It does not heal champions or bosses, nor can it heal itself.
    • The Healing Bane can target any ally of it within 20 meters.
    • Suppression does not stop healing when applied to any combatants receiving the benefits from the combatant, however if the Healing Bane combatant is hit then its healing effect ceases immediately for the duration of the suppression.
    • (for a similar ability, see Renewal Wizards)
  • Slow - Combatants with the Slow bane will freeze nearby Guardians using a Stasis aura. Don't let them close the distance. [5]
    • Contact with the aura applies 10 stacks of Slow. However being inside it will incure 5 stacks over a quick duration.
    • Suppressing the Slow Bane will disable their aura and its ability to apply Slow. Kill the Bane removes the Aura permanently.
    • (for a similar ability, see Duskfield Shanks)
  • Shields - Combatants with the Shield bane grant Void overshields to nearby enemies. These foes are unavoidable. Take them out quickly.[6]
    • The Void overshield granted by these Banes regenerate at a high rate. They cannot give themselves an overshield, nor can they give champions or bosses an overshield.
    • Suppression does not stop the overshield regeneration when applied to any combatants recieving the benefits from the combatant, however if the Shields Bane combatant is hit then its Overshields effect ceases immediately for the duration of the suppression.
    • Combatants with an overshield from the Shields Bane receive significantly increased damage. If the Bane is killed all overshield are immediately removed.

Added in Episode: Heresy

  • Zealous - Killing a combatant with the Zealous bane causes other combatants nearby to enrage. Enraged combatants will self destruct on death or after a short time dealing a moderate amount of Void damage to those nearby. (Unofficial description)
    • On death these Banes explode and send out a blast that damages nearby guardians and causes enemies within a short range to become enraged. Enemies enraged in this way are extremely aggressive, and are immune to stagger, Blind and Suppression.
    • Freezing and Suspend effects will temporarily the Enraged combatants aggression for the duration of the effect.
  • Pummel - Combatants with the Pummel bane are immune to all ranged damage and damage from status effects until they are hit with a melee attack. When hit with any melee attack, their immune shield pops and staggers any nearby enemies for a short time. (Unofficial description)
    • Pummel Banes can be targeted by Stagger, Blind, Slow, Freeze, Suspend and Suppression like any other combatant while their immune shield is active.
  • Hypernova - Once a unit with the Hypernova bane reaches to 2/3 health, it begins an arming sequence. If the unit is not defeated before the sequence completes, it explodes in a massive fiery shockwave. (Unofficial description)
    • During the arming sequence the gain a moderate damage resistance and regenerate health at a slow rate. After 7 seconds they detonate and send out a large Solar shockwave.
    • Guardians outside the range of the shockwave or behind cover will be safe from the blast. The Blast can be survived with high damage reduction sources.
    • Suppression does not stop this arming sequence in any way.

Added in The Edge of Fate

Kepler Only Banes

  • Grasp - Spawns a destructible Strand Turret which fires seekers that Unravel you. (Unofficial description)
  • Gravity - Throws a void grenade that generates a damaging field that pulls you toward the center. This field lasts for a short time. When its about to end it launches those in it up while hitting them with damage again. (Unofficial description)
  • Matterspark - Have a shield that requires Matterspark Burst to break. (Unofficial description)
