Kalliks, Baron of House Dusk is a Fallen Captain and Baron of the House of Dusk. He is encountered in Battleground: Delve where he leads his forces into the depths of Nessus in search of the Echo of Command.
Biography[edit]
When an Echo exited the Pale Heart and crashed into Nessus, Kalliks and his crew aboard his Ketch looked down on the planet from orbit. The Baron would recognize something was in Nessus's core from both the planet and Vex's response. Turning to the console beside him, Kalliks recalled when he heard the older Eliksni speak of the "Great Machine" in disgust and how something had erupted from it. Furthermore, they had intercepted the Vanguard comms that referred to the object as an anomaly. Looking at his console's screen, Kalliks would discover that Failsafe had been sending Guardians into Vex territory to uncover information. Desiring to retrieve the Echo for themselves, Kalliks would order his forces to ready the cages and arm the mines. When the Vandal at his side asked him what his plan was, Kalliks proclaimed they would capture the Vex to receive the information they desired to retrieve the Echo for themselves.[1]
Penetrating the Well of Flame, Kalliks and his forces would capture the Vex units within to extract the intel they possess. However, Kalliks and his crew would be confronted by a fireteam of Guardians outside of the well. Engaging with the Guardian forces, Kalliks would choose to retreat into the Well. After deactivating the barrier blocking the entrance, the Guardians confront Kalliks within a room with imprisoned Vex. To halt the Guardians' efforts, Kalliks releases the Vex before transmatting away from the battle. Within a cavern containing imprisoned Vex, Kalliks is ambushed by the fireteam, causing the Baron to retreat once more. Eventually, the Guardians arrive at a large cavern where Kalliks and his crew are containing a Vex Mind. Despite his strength and uncountable reinforcements, Kalliks is defeated by the fireteam who go on to destroy the Vex Mind shortly after.[2]
Gameplay[edit]
Kalliks is first encountered at the stairs leading to the Well of Flame alongside his forces, including Resilient Captains. Upon losing half of his health, Kalliks will retreat further up the stairway where he will fire at the Guardians from above. After losing around one-third of his health, Kalliks will teleport away. To lower the barrier leading into the well, the Guardians must acquire nine pieces of Fallen data by slaying Data Safeguards, which can be spawned by killing swarms of Fallen. The first and second sets of Data Safeguards will consist of a Servitor and two Tracer Shanks. While the third set will consist of two Heavy Shanks and a Data Safeguard Servitor. Eliminating them will lower the barrier and allow the Guardian to delve into the well.
Within the well, Kalliks will be confronted by the Guardians once more before teleporting away shortly after and releasing Vex forces. The fireteam must defeat the Vex to open the trapdoor leading into a Vex portal. Upon entering, the Guardians will engage with Kalliks who will teleport away shortly after being confronted and will leave behind a Unrelenting Servitor. Finally, the Guardians will confront Kalliks within a large Vex cavern, where he stands above the cage containing Hypolydron, Captive Mind. When Kalliks loses a small portion of its health, it will gain an Immunity Shield and summon forth three Siphon Servitors. To dispel Kalliks's shield, the fireteam must destroy the Siphon Servitors. Kalliks will then teleport off the cage while Vex units begin to appear around the cavern. Once Kalliks is slain, the Fallen barrier containing Hypolydron will be lowered, allowing the Guardians to slay the Hydra and complete the activity.
