Melissos, Swarm Mind is a Wyvern Vex Mind of the Nessian Schism and is one of the four secret Strangelet Capsule world bosses encountered in The Edge of Fate's mythic difficulty campaign.

Gameplay[edit]

Melissos is encountered in the Central Academy by using Graviton Lance to open a Graviton Plant and destroying the Stasis crystal within to disable a nearby fan. Use Matterspark to enter the pipe and exit into a closed off room. By destroying the diamond Vex Lense within the sealed off room will cause a Vex incursion to begin and the Swarming countdown will begin. Swarming is a thirty six second timer accompanied by two Imp Swarms that must be located and destroyed within the time limit or Melissos will flee and the encounter will reset. The amount of Imp Swarms left is indicated by the multiplier next to the Swarming countdown. Once both Imp Swarms are destroyed, Melissos will spawn in along with a Nessian Schism reinforcements.

Upon Melissos losing almost a third of its health, it will retreat and begin to divide which will complete after clearing a small wave of Vex reinforcements. This division halves its health and summons a Fragment of the Swarm, which is an exact copy of Melissos and behaves the same way. Shortly after this division completes and Melissos and its copy rejoins the fight, it will begin a Swarming countdown again. Melissos will attempt another Swarming countdown every minute. If the Fragment of the Swarm is destroyed, Melissos will retreat, begin another Swarming countdown, and then divide into another Fragment of the Swarm.

Once Melissos is destroyed, its Fragment will retreat, summon a small wave of reinforcements, and divide once the reinforcements are defeated. However this division instead separates the Fragment's life into fourths amongst four copies. These final four fragments do not divide and are the last Wyverns that must be destroyed to complete the encounter. However the swarm countdowns still occur during this final phase.
