"Zydron. The Vex Gate Lord who denied Guardians access to the Black Garden. The very place from where the Traveler's pain arose. The Pyramid uses Zydron's very presence as a reminder of the fear we faced when the Traveler's existence was threatened. Silence his Nightmare."
Eris Morn

The Nightmare of Zydron, Gate Lord is the Nightmare of the Vex Gate Lord and protector of the Endless Steps on Venus: Zydron. Recreated with the power of the Darkness by the Lunar Pyramid, it serves as the Aspect of Servitude.[1][2]

Gameplay[edit]

In the Nightmare Hunt: Servitude, the Nightmare of Zydron is fought at the Black Garden portal hidden in the Lunar Battlegrounds. It will appear as the player nears the gate, summoning Major Nightmare Vex and several other troops. It will roam around the area, pelting the players with its Torch Hammer and stomping on any that get too close. Periodically, as it loses health, it will become immune to damage, and summon more Major Nightmares, that must be killed to make it vulnerable, and several Goblins with powerful Solar Absorption Shields from the gate. It will continue to roam the area, and the player may be able to skip immunity phases if they deal damage fast enough.

Zydron is also fought as one of the rotating Final Nightmares at the Altars of Sorrow, where it will stay close to the entrance to the Scarlet Keep and fire upon the Guardians. Its size gives it a good firing angle over most of the arena.

Trivia[edit]

  • Zydron is the only major Nightmare that does not appear in the main campaign of Shadowkeep.
  • Despite Zydron normally appearing as pitch black, its nightmare variation appears silver when nearing death.
