Val'aug, the Brute was a Cabal Defector turned Pirate Lord, leading a crew of both Cabal and Fallen, with a hideout located within the asteroid 64974 Savaria in the Themis Cluster. She was hired by Eramis, Kell of Darkness, to search for the relics of Nezarec. She was the final boss of the Pirate Hideout: The Brute activity.[1]

Biography

Val'aug was once a Colossus of the Red Legion, before defecting to start her own company. When she initially defected, she imagined a life of true freedom, glory and riches, inscribing her name across the Sol System. After years though, she was dissatisfied with her lot, having to live in a filthy carved-out asteroid, using an arsenal of patchwork weapons in disrepair, and having to watch her back from a crew that would assassinate her at the first sign of weakness. She became increasingly ruthless to show her strength, punishing even small cheats with death.[2] This eventually led to her accruing a reputation for heavy-handed brutality, through her merciless treatment of her followers.

When she heard of the bounty that Eramis placed on the relics of Nezerec, she and her crew managed to acquire one. Before she could hand it off to the Shipstealer though, her hideout was raided by the Guardian, under direction from the Spider. Though she and her crew put up a fight, they were ultimately killed, and her relic was taken.

Gameplay

Val'aug can be found within the final cave area of her hideout. She will begin the battle from on top of a cliff, next to a Heavy Ammo Crate, and lay down suppression fire with her Cabal Slug Launcher. After she loses a third of her health, she will be protected by an immunity shield, and summon Fallen and Cabal reinforcements to cover her retreat deeper into the cave. Once she reaches this new checkpoint, her shield will deactivate, and she will be vulnerable again. Continue to whittle her down until her health is down to the last third, and she will retreat to her treasure hoard, where she will put up a final resistance with her crew before going down.
