"We didn't have linear fusions in the Dark Age. But we made it work."

Arbalest is an Exotic Kinetic Linear Fusion Rifle. It was obtainable from Eva Levante after completing the Party Hard triumph during The Revelry event. Due to this content no longer being in the game, Arbalest is now obtainable from Exotic Engrams.

Gameplay[edit]

Arbalest acts like a handheld railgun in that it deals high damage and is particularly effective against Absorption shields, however it also has a low rate of fire and reload speed. It also has intrinsic anti-barrier properties, allowing the destruction of barrier champion shields without an appropriate seasonal mod.

Perks[edit]

  • Compounding Force: Fires slugs that cause massive damage to elemental shields of enemy combatants. Strong against Barrier Champions.
  • Extended Barrel: Weighty barrel extension. Increases range. Decreases handling speed. Moderately controls recoil.
  • Projection Fuse: Distance optimizations. Increases range.
  • Disruption Break: Breaking an enemy's shield with this weapon makes them more vulnerable to Kinetic damage for a brief period.
  • Composite Stock: This weapon has a versatile dual-purpose stock. Slightly increases stability. Slightly increases handling speed.

Catalyst[edit]

The catalyst for Arbalest has a chance to randomly drop from playlist activities (Strikes, Nightfalls, Gambit and the Crucible).

The catalyst requires 500 enemies to be killed using Arbalest. Once completed, it will grant an additional perk and two other bonuses:

  • Genesis - Breaking a combatant's shield with this weapon fills its magazine from reserves. Energy weapons regenerate ammo on hit when matching the damage type to the combatant's shield.
  • Increases magazine size by 1
  • +20 handling

Lore[edit]

"And my vanquisher will read that book, seeking the weapon, and they will come to understand me, where I have been and where I was going."
The following is a verbatim transcription of an official document for archival reasons. As the original content is transcribed word-for-word, any possible discrepancies and/or errors are included.

"We didn't have linear fusions in the Dark Age. But we made it work." —The Drifter

"Nah. Dark Age version was better."

"You and I remember the Dark Age differently."

"I'll take a hard projectile over energy any day. No better way to make sure the target is dead."

"Energy is for silencing barriers. Fists are all I need to administer blunt-force trauma."

"I forget you used to be a Warlord."

"What do you mean 'used to?'"

"I thought you'd thrown in with Saladin and Felwinter."

"I did. But I never stopped being me."

"Then why—"

"'Warlord' is too many syllables."

"Gambit needs more candidates like you. Should stop by sometime. Whatever you want to call yourself."

"Thank you. You're a liar and a cheat. Stay out of my Crucible."

Trivia[edit]

  • The weapon's namesake is a type of large crossbow derived from medieval French usage.
