"The flit of tiny wings; the pull of a trigger."
— Weapon description

Final Warning is an Exotic Strand Sidearm in Destiny 2 introduced in Lightfall . It is available as a reward after completing "The Final Strand" Quest.[1]

Overview[edit]

The very first iteration of the Final Warning was a device known as a "atmospheric Veil spectrometer", created by Chioma Esi and the scientists of the Ishtar Collective during the founding era of Neomuna. It was used primarily to study the properties of Strand, a psychic manifestation of the Darkness that radiating from the Veil, and could harnesses its paracausal energy.[1]

While training to master the power of Strand, The Guardian would seek out a means of incorporating its properties into their weapons. Nimbus suggested retrofitting the old equipment at the Irkalla Complex with the atmospheric spectrometers being full of Strand energy. However, the Shadow Legion had already looted the complex for Veil-related equipment and took one of them as spoils. The Guardian would retrive the stolen Veil spectrometer from the Typhon Imperator and retuned its Strand vibrations using Osiris's training program. Finally, they used Neomuni nanites combined with the retuned spectrometer to transform Final Warning into a proper Strand weapon.[1]

Perks[edit]

  • Instrinsic: All at Once — Holding down the trigger marks targets within range and loads multiple bullets, which fire in a burst with increased stability on trigger release. Hitting a marked target with a fully charged burst will unravel them.
  • Hammer Forged Rifling: Durable ranged barrel.
    • Increases range.
  • Flared Magwell: Optimized for fast reloading.
    • Slightly increases stability.
    • Greatly increases reload speed.
  • Exotic Trait: Pick Your Poison — When firing from the hip, projectiles will track marked targets, dealing increased body shot damage on impact. When aiming down sights, projectiles have greatly increased velocity and deal extra critical hit damage to marked targets.
  • Combat Grip: This weapon's recoil direction is more vertical.
    • Greatly controls recoil.

Catalyst[edit]

The Exotic Catalyst is an available drop from completing Ritual activities or from Xûr, Agent of the Nine while in rotation. After 700 weapon kills, the catalyst unlocks the following perk:

  • Exotic Trait: String Theory — Hits against marked targets deal increased damage and have a chance to refund ammo to the magazine.

My Esteemed Colleagues,

While enjoying my afternoon cup of Psamathe Silver Tip (a gift from Dr. Dewan after his sabbatical—thank you again, dear friend) and ruminating on our planet's orbital corrections and the orbital corrections we ourselves make throughout our own lives, a completely unrelated revelation came to me.

I realized, often in times of rest, how my mind wanders its own furthermost reaches, and how the answers to my most vexing questions present themselves at that time with absolutely no fanfare. (This phenomenon is worth studying in its own right by people much smarter than I, but I digress.) My most recent revelation comes in regard to our current pursuits with Atmospheric Spectrometer #003a, a.k.a. Final Warning, as I have heard it being called around the lab.

The odd capabilities this "Final Warning" harbors have long been suspected by Dr. Sundaresh to be a byproduct of the Veil, replicating energy signatures we most often observe in fluid dynamics. With that in mind, I propose we begin testing the ability to engage that energy using both the Magnus and gyroscopic effects. We attempt to create a "paracausal skipping stone," if you will.

How we accomplish this remains to be seen, but I encourage you to not spend the next few days thinking about it, as we will discuss it at the next staff meeting.

Enjoy your weekends,

Dr. Esi

Trivia[edit]

  • This weapon triggers unique dialogue with Astraea in the Vesper's Host Dungeon, to which she detects an Ishtar Collective probe upon scanning the Guardian that carries the Sidearm on their person when they pass through the airlock.[2]
