- "Every hit blazes the path to our reclamation."
- — Weapon description
No Land Beyond is an Exotic
Sniper Rifle in Destiny introduced in the The Dark Below expansion. It can be obtained from Xûr, Agent of the Nine or as a random drop from an Exotic primary engram.
It was later reprised in Destiny 2 as New Land Beyond, available in Episode: Heresy as a bonus for preordering the Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition.
Destiny[edit]
Gameplay[edit]
Year One[edit]
Unlike other Sniper Rifles, No Land Beyond is equipped in the player's primary weapon slot. It features a unique bolt-action reload mechanic, which requires the player to manually cycle the weapon between every shot, reducing its overall rate of fire. It is also the only sniper rifle to not feature a traditional scope, but rather iron sights.
Because of its incredibly niche role, it is widely considered to be one of, if not the most useless Exotic weapons in Destiny because of both its slow mechanics and the amount of time required to become familiar and comfortable with how the weapon handles; some of it has to do with the entire iron sights moving with the player when strafing and aiming down the sights, which is not seen on any other Sniper Rifle. A huge problem for many is that after each shot, the wielder has to manually cycle in the next round due to its nature as a bolt-action rifle, meaning that if they miss a headshot, the wielder cannot quickly fire to hit them again.
Year Two[edit]
Year 2 brought no significant changes to this weapon, with the exception of a minor tweak to the iron sights.
Perks[edit]
Column One
- CQB Ballistics: Greatly reduced recoil. Significant penalty to range.
- Soft Ballistics: Less recoil. Penalty to impact.
- Accurized Ballistics: More range and impact. Increased recoil.
Column Two
- Mulligan: Missing a shot has a chance to return ammo directly to the magazine.
Column Three
- Lightweight: When held, this weapon grants +2 character Agility.
- Snapshot: Aiming this weapon is incredibly fast.
- Flared Magwell: Reload this weapon even faster.
Exotic Perk
- The Master: Increased precision damage. Kills briefly increase damage against next target.
Grimoire[edit]
EVERY HIT BLAZES THE PATH TO OUR RECLAMATION.
Rumors of this weapon's existence sent many a Guardian clawing through the corners of Old Russia, seeking its legend. Some believe its origins predate the Golden Age and served to liberate the old Earth nation from a terrible cycle of war.
Others believe it a Golden Age relic built to honor the sniper and their artful approach to battle—to lean on the sole power of the long rifle, nest where the enemy cannot see, trust in the power of calm and know there is nowhere to fall back to.

Lore[edit]
EVERY HIT BLAZES THE PATH TO OUR RECLAMATION.
Sun rising over the water, she's got to move. Three Fallen down. That means find a new sniper nest before her enemy comes looking.
They're on the prowl, the ragged ends of Devils only barely integrated into Dusk. There's an old factory with outflow pipes leading to a drying riverbed; she doesn't know what it used to make, but it's closer to a Human settlement than she likes. A potential enemy stronghold.
The Fallen can't have it. But they're trying, and they're backed up by the canniest Vandal with a wire rifle she's ever faced.
Rifle goes on her back, under the cloak, and she climbs down out of the tree that once served her so well. She wades through the water, tacking towards the other shore.
A shot whines overhead, the snap and fade of an Arc bolt. A second shot tears a line through her shoulder. She throws herself forward, tucked low against the riverbed, and crawls forward. The ridge keeps her out of likely enemy sightlines.
There's a boulder that's got a good look to it. She slithers behind it into concealing shadow. Front's all mud and blood now, but she'll deal with that later.
Her enemy's got a cloaking device. Doesn't always use it. The power draw's a giveaway if you have the right equipment, which she doesn't. She keeps her eyes open for any rustling, any faint blurring of background.
It's the sun's glint that gives him away in the end, winking against the scope on his wire rifle.
From deep in shadow, she takes the shot.
It's her planet.
They can't have it.
Trivia[edit]
- The weapon design is based off the PTRS-41
- The name of the weapon is a reference to the Soviet sniper Vasily Zaytsev. One of his famous quotes during the battle of Stalingrad was "There is no land beyond the Volga".
- Devrim Kay uses a weapon that bears a striking resemblance to No Land Beyond in Destiny 2.
- During the later stages of Destiny 1, due to a special ammo nerf, No Land Beyond become very common in the Crucible.
- During this time it was discovered that the weapon's flinch was purely cosmetic and that accuracy always went to the center of the screen regardless of incoming damage. Skilled guardians used this bug to great effect until it was fixed by Bungie.
- In addition to the small change in the name of this weapon, the New Land Beyond has been incorporated into the arsenal of the Field Forged Foundry.
