The tiers are organized from 1-4 and are chosen based upon the type of Charge of Light that is fed into the Well. The first tier is the easiest, with the fourth, or heroic tier is the most difficult. The third tier does not provide any completion progress to Petra's Gateway Between Worlds bounty, but is a prerequisite to starting the 'heroic' event, which provides 50% bounty completion at the end.
Once the charge is inserted, a spherical field will form around the central well, and mist will begin concealing the outside. While inside the sphere, the players will gain the "Touch of the Sky" buff. Leaving the circled area will put a five second timer over the effect. When it expires, they will be inflicted with with the "Touch of the Deep" debuff, which will steadily damage them, and eventually kill them. Kill enough enemies, and the phase will be completed. An ancillary well will turn on, and players will be prompted to move around it.

Phase two to four consist in defeating enough enemies to power the Ancillary Well. Periodically, a combatant called The Anathema will appear in the mists. Killing it will make it drop a sphere, that when collected gives the "Harmony" buff for fifteen seconds. During this time, players will not be damaged by Touch of the Deep, their Super will charge much quicker, and they will be able to see clearly into the mist. Eventually, the arrival of a Servant of the Plague will be announced on screen. These enemies are protected by an immunity shield that can only be broken with damage from a player with the "Harmony" buff. Killing enough enemies will complete each phase, until phase four is done.

Generic Bosses
For phase five, the mist will clear, no longer inflicting the Touch of the Deep effect, and numerous enemies will spawn, alongside the bosses, the Heralds of the Plague. Depending on the tier, one, two or three heralds will manifest. Next to each Herald will also be two Anathemas, whose spheres will be the only way to pierce the boss' shields and eventually kill them.
These bosses appear in a set order in tiers 1 through 4 and do not have any unique mechanics tied to them.

*The Anathema

Final Bosses
If phase five was completed in tier one or two, the players will be awarded their loot. However, at the end of tier three, The Ghost will warn them that the well is now ready for overclocking. They will have a few seconds to deposit an Unstable Charge of Light, and doing so will begin Tier four, where the players will fight the weekly Plague of the Well. Higher ranked enemies will also spawn, and since it is considered an Heroic tier, combatants will have shields appropriate to the Shielded Foes modifier. Each Plague has its own mechanics, and defeating it will end the event for good.
These bosses rotate weekly and appear at the end of each tier.

The Blind Well is a Guardian-initiated activity that can be triggered as a Public Event in the Dreaming City, similar to Escalation Protocol and Court of Oryx, where a team of Guardians defends an ancient Awoken portal against tiers of Scorn, Taken, and Hive.[1]

History

The physical Blind Well is a dimensional rift generator that is charged by vast quantities of Paracausal forces, such as the Light. The device was calibrated during the Taken War, but after the Dreaming City was invaded and the Queen disappeared, no one knew the intended destination.[2]

During the battle for the freedom of the City, Guardians activated the Well, despite the reprimands of the Techeuns. After 2 weeks of charging, the Blind Well generated a rift to Mara Sov's throne world, Eleusinia.[2]

Years later, the Awoken would form a new Techeun coven, with the objective of retrieving their missing Queen. The witches would use the Blind Well to search fo the voice of Mara Sov, and they found her lost in the Ascendant Realm. However, they would quickly realized than an hostile presence followed them, so Mara shattered the Ley Lines and dispersed her coven, who projected her towards the city. The Queen emerged alone in the Blind Well.[3]

The Queen would later approach The Guardian, so that they could, through the use of the Wayfinder's Compass, retrieve her wayward Coven, lost in the Shattered Realms[4]. After several weeks of alignments, the Well would direct a Guardian fireteam to the site for the Exorcism of Savathûn, the Witch Queen.[5]

Gameplay

The Blind Well is a player-triggered Public Event that is activated through being fed a Charge of Light. Guardians must push through a chosen tier of the event, as they overcome Scorn, Taken, or Hive enemies while killing bosses at the end of whatever tier they choose.
