Corsairs are aerial Fallen combatants.
Overview[edit]
According to records pulled from House of Exile systems on Kepler and from Eido, the role of Corsairs originated during the Long Drift for boarding parties and ship-to-ship raiders. Corsairs serve somewhere alongside Vandals in the Fallen hierarchy, with some being as revered as Captains through daring deployments or become notorious through unscrupulous ventures. However, the role would be abandoned by most Houses, except for the House of Exile on Kepler, who use the fungal growths native to the planetoid to fuel their jump-jets.[1] After their rediscovery on Kepler, the role of Corsairs would begin to be taken up again by newer Fallen groups, notably the House of Dusk[2] and the Pikers syndicate.[3]
Gameplay[edit]
Corsairs were introduced with the release of The Edge of Fate, among the Fallen enemies of the campaign. They were also added to a number of past activities. Corsairs float in the air, using their elevated position to bombard opponents with their Scorch Round pistols. While they don't move very fast, they can use their jets for a quick dodge, twirling across the air. If an enemy gets to close, they will overload their jets to unleash a powerful melee burst, burning anyone that gets hit. Corsairs have no special defenses, and instead have an additional weak spot in their jets, which can be shot for critical damage. If the corsair is slain with this damage, it will be sent fly around wildly before exploding, damaging anything near it.
Known Corsairs[edit]
- House of Exile Corsairs
- House of Dusk Corsairs
Trivia[edit]
- Corsairs are the first organic Fallen enemy to have flight capability.
- They are also the first organic Fallen enemy to be added in an DLC.
- Upon being killed with a critical blow to their thrusters which causes them to fly around uncontrollably, Corsairs may get their head stuck in the wall. This is most common in uneven terrain such as that of the rocky depths of the Curtilage Divide.
