| “ | Answer the challenge of the Outer Orbits | ” |
The Gauntlet of the Outer Orbits is a limited time event similar to both the Pantheon and the Rite of the Nine released October 28th, 2025. The activity consists of four different gauntlets each containing four encounters each, all of which modified in a certain way to create a new and unique experience. Each week, a new gauntlet is added to the game, all the while keeping the prior gauntlet to allow for farming if necessary. Each gauntlet has its own loot pool, all of which contains reworked and even new weapons and armor, now improved with Tiers, all of which can be improved by applying unique Feats.

Changes[edit]
Every encounter as part of the Gauntlet of the Outer Orbits has been modified in some way, shape or form, with some merely introducing new enemies while others add new mechanics for the Fireteam to be concerned about. Much like The Desert Perpetual, the Fireteam may modify their Gauntlet experiences by adding similar Feats to increase not just the difficulty of the Raids they do, but also the Tier quality of their loot. The Feats do as follows:
- Phase Race - The fireteam must complete boss encounters within 2 phases instead of the ordinary 3. Failing to meet this requirement invokes a wipe. Non-boss encounters are exempt from this rule.
- Token Limit - The fireteam as a whole is limited to a total of 3 Revive tokens as opposed to each Guardian having a Revive token.
- Cutthroat Combat - The enemies and bosses are on the same level as Contest mode, bearing more power and, as such, having more health and dealing more damage.
- Encounter Challenges - The fireteam must complete the Challenges for all encounters. Failing any challenge leads to a Wipe.
- Battalions - New enemies and Banes now show up for every encounter.
Gauntlet of V[edit]
Morgeth, the Spirekeeper[edit]
Attempting to cheese Morgeth's strength with Ursa Furiosa has been patched out for the sake of this Gauntlet. Eyes of Riven are now Dire Captains and the Taken Psions are now Dire Psions. Morgeth will apply Umbral Enervation to two players sequentially after each pickup, requiring coordination on Eye of Riven locations during the fight. A Taken Minotaur, called a Grace of Riven, will spawn during the fight and constantly provide Morgeth strength if not addressed; the Grace of Riven requires the teamwork of a player with double Strength and a non-buffed player. During damage, Morgeth will shield itself with a dome shield similar to that of a Dire Captain, requiring players to get close to deal bypass the shield and deal damage to Morgeth.
Battalion additions now include Rage Bane Taken Ogres, adds Dire Goblins, and changes Eyes of Riven to Majors with the Front Shield Bane.
Crypt Security[edit]
Tangle Launcher Marauders will join the fray alongside their Dreg allies and the Overload Captains are replaced by Brigs, while the Marauders in the basement will be joined by Duskfield Shanks. Now adds the Suppressor Augment to the encounter, with the Suppressor Vandal spawning in the basement, which is required to defeat a Berserker, Salvation Splicer which shows up on any side, light, dark, and even the basement, when two of the terminals on the lower level have been interacted with, including the last two to initiate damage phase. Upon spawning, the Berserker, Salvation Splicer will nullify the use of the other augments until their suppression, meaning that they must be swiftly suppressed to allow the team to continue to read new callouts. During damage phase, two of the fuses will be glowing, meaning that both must be destroyed around the same time.
Battalion additions now include Slow Bane Dark Council Guards, Screeber Sentinel Servitors, Brigs are now Ultra level and changes the Hacker Vandal and Suppressor Vandal to Major Corsairs with the Threaded Bane.
Kalli, the Corrupted[edit]
Dire Thrall replace normal Taken Thrall, Ravenous Dire Knights will now join the fray and attempt to pull Guardians off the plates, further stalling time. Taken Purge isn't initially obvious, instead determined by the location of Acolyte's Eye, with the standard one determining the safe zone and the others, called Wrath of Kalli, determining the Taken Purge zones. A pair of Taken Strengths will spawn in the arena every 30 seconds, granting Strength to Kalli's song and, if allowed to fully grow, will immediately invoke a wipe. Graces of Riven return in this encounter, once again requiring the teamwork of a double Strength and unbuffed player to kill. Kalli will continue to harass plates, but will be immune shielded when doing so, thanks to the support of a Taken Centurion, called a Scale of Riven; the immune shield will drop upon the elimination of the Scale of Riven, allowing the player to retaliate against Kalli and force a more convenient retreat. Taken Strengths reset upon the completion of a damage phase.
Battalion additions add Elite Taken Minotaurs, turn the Ravenous Dire Knights into Gravity Banes and any spawned Taken Ogres are Zealous Banes.
The Vault[edit]
Taken Vandals will join the replaced Dire Psions in the central room and all Taken Acolytes are replaced by Dire Acolytes. Shadow Touched Blights will appear around the arena, with one in any of the side rooms. Much like before, Eyes of Riven are replaced by Dire Captains. Taken Strengths will spawn throughout the encounter, one at a time, from spawning in middle to any of the side rooms empowering the Security Mechanism if left unchecked, resulting in a wipe when it reaches full strength; players may need to cycle between rooms if necessary. Upon collecting Taken Essence, the Scales of Riven return with three of them spawning in the middle, along side a trio of Shield Blights beaming into the security mechanism; one of both Scale and Shield blight will spawn in front of the entrances to the side rooms. Two of the three guarded by a different Absorption Shield compared to the other one. The Taken essence player must destroy the Shield Blight that corresponds to the side the standout Scale of Riven is on so that they can actually dunk their Essence into the plate; the wrong shield blight destroyed will temporarily lock the player out of dunking, either requiring dying or waiting for another Essence bearer to pick up theirs and destroy their Scale of Riven's Shield Blight. Taken Strengths reset upon a solution to the Vault.
Battalion additions introduce Elite Dire Centurions with Mine Bane in every room. Eyes of Riven are now Majors with Front Shield and Mights of Riven are now Ultras.
Taniks, the Abomination[edit]
Corsairs will now join the fray, with at least two spawning on each side. Suppressor must at the least disable a Berserker, Salvation Splicer before moving to help the fireteam dislodge Cores from Taniks' boosters, as the other augments are disabled as long as the Berserker is untouched. Scanner can now see half (rounded down if 3 have been shot off) of the players carrying Nuclear Cores blinking, indicating that they must be picked up off another player before being dunked, lest Nuclear Annihilation wipe the fireteam. Taniks will trap two Guardians at once with a Void Prison. During damage phase, Taniks is fully capable of firing down at his adversaries, and can now move along with the Shock field, forcing players to be more on the move. Shaped Synergies from Scourge of the Past also come into play here, damaging nearby players with different buffs and increasing damage for those with similar ones, cycling the buff every time Taniks forces the Guardians out with a knockback blast.
Battalion additions include Caltrops Bane Dark Council Guards and Zealous Bane Corsairs.
Gauntlet of VI[edit]
Basilica[edit]
Dire Taken replace much of the Taken forces. Both Hive and Taken can show up on either side, making enemy prioritization a necessity for a more effective clear. Upon a player successfully transferring a Brand, either a small squad of Dire Goblins or a pair of Dire Minotaurs will spawn in an effort to slow down Guardians with Deathsinger's Power. Additionally, upon depositing their Deathsinger's Power, a special, immune-shielded Wizard unit, called a Deathsinger's Handmaiden, will spawn in and will make their way to one of the totems and if allowed to reach it, shortly invokes a wipe. The Deathsinger's Handmaiden's rather durable shield can only be destroyed by players with Deathsinger's Power, with the higher the stacks, the more damage to the shields they do. The Unstoppable Ogre is merely a Major Ogre. A field of Pervading Darkness will cloud the platforms where Blightguards spawn, making camping around those areas unfeasible.
Battalion additions now turn the attacking Knights that spawn from middle into Mine Banes, left side balconies spawn Ravenous Dire Vandal snipers and right side balconies spawn Revenant Knight snipers. Ogre is now Ultra level.
Cross the Bridge[edit]
Every once in a while, a Void Crystal will spawn, requiring an Enlightened and an unbuffed Guardian to destroy at once lest a wipe is invoked; this changes sides depending on which has more Guardians, with them spawning on the throne side once at least 3 Guardians have traversed the Chasm. Blessed enemies will spawn on either the left or right on throne side, requiring the Enlightened buff to kill, with normal enemies becoming immune to Enlightened players. Barrier Knights are simply Blistered Knights.
Battalion additions now have the Knights as Shield Banes and Ogres on the other side are Hypernova banes. Swordbearers and Gatekeepers are Ultras, becoming immune to crowd control abilities.
Ir Yût, the Deathsinger[edit]
Ir Yût is capable of a
Nova Scream on top of her standard abilities. On top of Enlightened buff, Witches Blessing is also present, which is required to eliminate Blessed enemies (the crystal that drops a pool for the buff spawns behind the crystal on the opposite side of the Chalice of Light). Witch's Vessels are scattered to allow the Guardians to swap the Witch's Blessing buff so as to avoid death from that. Void Crystals will spawn once again, this time protected by a dome shield, requiring cooperation between a blessed and non-blessed player to destroy. Cooperation between Blessed and non-blessed players can also lengthen the damage phase and temporarily blind Ir Yût.
Battalion additions now have a few Revenant Knights as Caltrops Banes and the Shield Singers as Grasp Banes. Malevolent Blades will spawn during damage phase to harry the Guardians.
Daughters of Oryx[edit]
Once again, Dire Taken replaces much of the ordinary Taken, while the sniper units remain the same. Every once in a while, the team will be targeted by a Blight Bomb attack similar to that of an Echo of Oryx, requiring constant movement or clever positioning by plate players if it is unfortunately timed. Every time platforms are made for the Torn Between Dimensions player, a Deathsinger's Handmaiden will spawn in one of the corners of the map, and must be eliminated before they reach the middle, or the fireteam will be wiped after a short animation. While the Brand Claimer's aura is immune to most attacks, the Daughters and a pair of Deathsinger's Handmaidens can bypass it. Damage phase can be extended by activating Corrupted Light that appears on the plates beside the target Daughter's pedestal.
Battalion additions now have Meteor Bane Dire Centurions and Pummel Bane Deathsinger's Handmaidens. Sniper units are Elite ranked.
Crota, Son of Oryx[edit]
Witch's Blessing once again makes a return, dropping a pool in the main crystal room once Crota spawns in. The Witch's Vessel appears in the dead center of the room. Blessed enemies will also join the fray, requiring the team to prioritize their target units. The pair of Knights in the towers will be both standard and blessed, as are the pair of Ogres that spawn on their defeat. Swordbearer requires the cooperation of both a Blessed and normal player to break their shield. Throughout the fight, Crota can conjure up
Brood Spikes under the Guardians' feet. During damage phase, Crota can unleash a Slashed Flame Wall that compounds over time to a fatal degree similar to that of Zulmak, Instrument of Torment. Teamwork between Blessed and unblessed players can also lengthen the damage phase and temporarily blind Crota.
Battalion additions now have Gravity Bane Revenant Knights and Zealous Bane Swordbearers.
Gauntlet of VII[edit]
Exhibition[edit]
The Dread will either replace or join much of the Scorn and Taken units originally encountered here. Glyphkeepers will show two similar symbols as opposed to one, where now Guardians must remember two symbols each reveal. All artifacts now have additional functions and additional purposes: Aegis Super is required to kill a Harbinger, called Emulator of Rhulk, to break down a barrier to allow further access into a room, Shard breaks shields the shields of Subjugated Attendants and Taken Essence Super is required to kill enraged Tormentors called Custodians of Rhulk so that the other artifacts continue to function properly.
Battalions additions include Ultra Glyphkeepers and Resonant Glyphkeepers with Screeber and Meteors Bane respectively. Elite Slow Bane Grim will also spawn in different rooms.
Herald of Finality[edit]
More Dire Taken are present, with Ravenous Dire Captains replacing Ravenous Taken Knights. Two Witness arms that cast Resonant Outburst will harass the entire Raid team throughout the encounter. When Called players attempt to break the Herald's head, the non-buffed players will be afflicted with Catatonic Decimation, and must callout the symbols they see on the blights that spawn on their side so to prevent a wipe, free them from their imprisonment, and weaken the Herald, as well as note the resonances needed to destroy arms. All three types of Resonance are present here, with two of each spawning on each side, with Resonant Conductors taking any of the three and the two Witness arms requiring a proper resonance to be destroyed, as their destruction can extend the damage phase further.
Battalion additions turn the Trammels into Hypernova banes. Cascade Bane Tormented Husks will now show up on the edge of the arena instead of Ravenous Taken Knights.
Acquisition[edit]
The Dread will now join the Scorn's onslaught on the totems throughout the encounter. Disciple's Compasses are now Taken Minotaurs, making the hunt for them all the more difficult. Major Knowledge Bearers replace Unstoppable Abominations, with their Knowledge required to safely access Resonance-poisoned rooms, whose doors are still linked to the spike in the middle of the arena. While no Screebs will spawn in the side rooms, the Glyphkeepers are now Revenant Barons. Abated Adherents are now Weavers. An Emulator of Rhulk will infrequently show up to either lock down the pyramid spike or will show up to cloud the symbols on the Obelisks to prevent the Guardians from finding the correct one.
Battalion additions now include Pummel bane Abated Adherents and Screeber Glyphkeepers. Knowledge Bearers are Ultras.
Verity[edit]
More Dread units will join the fray as opposed to just Grim, including Weavers and Husks. Unstoppable Ogres are merely Blistered Ogres. Splintered Curators have been replaced by standard Knights, with Witness hands taking their former role, requiring the inside team to stand in the projected attack sites to acquire resonance in order to move it around. Arms will be destroyed every dissection and replaced with ones that proved shapes similar to what is present on the screen. All three Witness hands will attack the main room in the process. When the Witness notices the Fireteam's progress, three more hands will appear in the main room and, if not addressed, will accelerate the Imminent End wipe. It is countered by shared callouts by Catatonic Decimated Guardians who only see a resonant shape where the arms are, with dissectors destroying the arm whose resonances does not match the one their attacks provide.
Battalion additions now include Caltrops Husks and Meteor Ogres. An Enlightened Omen will join the fray during a Catatonic Decimation and after inside players return to the middle.
The Witness[edit]
Relatively more simple compared to the rest. Chieftain reinforcements are Revenant Barons The Witness arms require at least two Resonances to be destroyed. The Witness will test the Fireteam twice instead of once. A Resonant Mucilage will spawn when two arms are destroyed, making damage to other arms impossible until defeated, and can only be destroyed by players with the Glyphkeeper buff when on the floral platform in front of the Witness. During damage phase, the Witness will also deploy tracking Resonant Suns with Pervasive Darkness and unleash Resonant Outbursts, further forcing players on their toes. During damage phase, a Guardian may extend it further if they have the Blessed by the Traveler buff by sniping Resonant Suns out of the sky and using their new super function on the Witness.
Battalion additions now include Screeber Revenant Barons and a Hypernova Resonant Mucilage. Ultra Tormentors replace the Subjugators.
Gauntlet of VIII[edit]
Consecrated Mind, Sol Inherent[edit]
Vex Relay requires more motes to be banked. When a player has received the Enlightened buff after dunking motes, when the Consecrated Mind unleashes a Voltaic Overflow, the Relay will be attacked by two Imp Swarms, one named Central Watcher and the other Peripheral Watcher. Destroying the wrong one will kill the Enlightened player. They must kill the one that corresponds to the Voltaic Overflow's callouts, with Central Watcher linked to the inner eye and the Peripheral Watcher linked to the outer eye. Every once in a while, a Blessed Wyvern, Sol Inherent will show up to attack the players, with an eye situated on each fin and in the head. Normal players see all three active, but Voltaic Overflow players can see one of the three eyes glowing and another with an x through it, while the last one is simply inactive. The Guardian must call out the inactive eye (not the crossed one) to non-buffed players and destroy both eyes at the same time; wrong callouts will kill the Voltaic Overflow player. While the Blessed Wyverns can be left alive, as they are not tied to any wipe mechanic, they do drop ten whole motes upon death and can conjure walls to slow down Consecrated Mind during damage phase. While being chased, the Consecrated Mind will fire a pair of Arc Emitters similar to Imp Swarms to retaliate. If stopped by a wall during damage phase, the Consecrated Mind will panic and call upon Supplicants to aid it.
Battalion additions include Front Shield Malignant Minotaurs and the Blessed Wyverns have Healing Bane. Some of the Supplicants during damage phase can be replaced by a pair of Ultra Harpies.
Gatekeepers[edit]
Imp Swarms replace the Overload Minotaurs that assault the plates. After the destruction of the first Gatekeeper, later Gatekeepers, now called Embedded Gatekeepers, are protected by a pair of rotating shields. Upon the Embedded Gatekeeper spawning, past or future realms will see a series of Oracles appearing as well, requiring the present realm to destroy them in order. In order to properly destroy it, Teleport Destabilized players must call out which of the shields is glowing for the present players in order to make them vulnerable; shooting the wrong shield will cause the Embedded Gatekeeper to immediately invoke a wipe or spawn another series of Oracles, depending on if the Oracles were destroyed or not.
Battalion additions include Gravity Bane Gatekeepers and Grasp Praetorians and Wyverns. Praetorians and Wyverns are Ultra ranked and all realms will have a pair of Cyclops reinforcements.
Substratum[edit]
Another Resonant Outburst hand will harry the team. Seeker cubes will spawn throughout the rooms to slow the Guardians' progress through the Substratum. A Keeper's Attendant will provide Keepers of the Monolith with an immune shield, and spawn on the side opposite of where the Keeper of the Monolith is. The Devotee of the Witness is merely a Malignant Minotaur. As charges are being bounced around, Resonance Insulators will assail the chargers, and can only be killed by players with stacks of Resonance. Guardians must be careful with this, as all three different resonances are present, and the Conductors can only take one type of them, which can be seen by the player that destroyed the Resonance Insulator by way of Stolen Favor.
Battalion additions include Hypernova Keepers of the Monolith and Gravity Resonance Insulators. Imp Swarms will protect the Threshold Sentinel.
The Templar[edit]
Imp Swarms will now join the fray. The cleansing pool is now gone, and the Oracles will immediately invoke a wipe if unaddressed. The Templar will now spawn in the same location it does during the Confluxes encounter. Three Vex Relays will spawn around the arena, all of which's tether can reach middle with the aid of a single Guardian and will be assailed by the Vex. While Oracles can be destroyed by correctly guessing their spawn order, they drop Unobserved Chronons which must be dunked to fill up relays. To determine the correct relays they go to, the player with the Aegis must see the color of the eyes seen on The Templar's shield, each corresponding to the location of where the Oracles spawned. Upon the correct deposit, the player will receive either the Constant, Absolute or Cyclical Enlightened buff, dependent on which side they have been dunked on, and can start defeating the Vex to generate motes needed to charge the relays with their corresponding temporal energy needed to power up the Aegis. After a short period, a Glass Exemplar will arrive and attempt to sacrifice at one of the Relays, immediately invoking a wipe if allowed to do so. The Aegis bearer is the only one that can kill the advanced Minotaur frame, but the unit will apply the Fragmenting Timestreams debuff, which diminishes much of the Aegis abilities in the hands of a Guardian with this debuff, so the Aegis must be swapped out with another Guardian in order to return the Aegis to full effectiveness. Taking too long to fill the Relays will eventually cause the Templar to lose its patience and unleash a Constructed Rapture attack that will wipe the team.
Occasionally, the Templar will attempt to teleport to one of two locations, each sequentially spawning. The first player that attempts to block the teleport will be targeted by the Hydra via Variable Elimination, even around walls through ricochets, as long as the player is blocking teleport, and is tied to the time left before the teleport happens, which is only blocked by the Aegis block function, meaning that the Aegis player should be the first to block a teleport. Once all Relays are charged, they must be tethered to the Aegis user, who will finally acquire their Super function and can begin damage phase proper, with the Templar teleporting to the location it ordinarily would be in the normal version of the Raid encounter. The Templar will continue to attempt teleports to two locations, still attempting to fire off Variable Elimination at the first Guardian to attempt to block it. Supplicants will spawn during damage phase, and players will still be detained throughout. Successful blocks extend the damage phase and, after three attempted teleports, the Templar will regain immunity and teleport back to its Confluxes position.
Battalion additions include Cascade Imp Swarms and Healing Minotaurs. Major Hydras will assist the Templar by flying around the arena.
Sanctified Mind, Sol Inherent[edit]
The Sanctified Mind will fire off a Voltaic Overflow like a Vex launched grenade every 45 seconds starting from the beginning of the encounter, which is necessary to kill the Blessed Wyverns that show up later. Imp Swarms will join the standard wave of Goblins in the assault on the Vex Relays. If enough platforms are allowed to be Disintegrated, the Sanctified Mind will become enraged by the teams apathy and immediately invoke a wipe. Angelics will also appear alongside a wave of sacrificial reinforcements in order to slow the teams reconstruction efforts. Blessed Wyverns make their return in middle and on one of the sides if players are present (after the first few teleports), preventing the Sanctified Mind's weak points from being shot as long as they are alive, once again demanding the teamwork of Voltaic Overflow and standard players. While damage phase is obviously longer, the Sanctified Mind will make use of Detainment Seekers more similar to that of Argos and call upon Vex reinforcements. The Sanctified Mind can be tethered an additional time, requiring three tethers for a full damage phase.
Battalion additions include Shield Bane Angelics. Side enemies now include Ultra ranked Minotaurs and Hobgoblins, with both (just one for the pair of Hobgoblins) having Hypernova. Ultra Harpies will show up alongside Cyclopses and to support the Sanctified Mind during damage phase.
