- "This was our world, our solar system. We were here first. And no matter what the darkness brings, we will be here at the dawn."
- — —Grimoire card blurb
Humanity is a sapient species native to the planet Earth. [1]
Overview
The remaining humans are all that survive of a race whose reach once spanned the Solar System, having descended from those who endured the apocalyptic Collapse. [2] In the long centuries since, [3] they have fought to restore our toppled civilization to its Golden Age splendor—first by the legendary Iron Lords [4], and more recently by the Guardians. [5]
History
During the 21st Century, humanity made first contact with the mysterious entity that would later come to be known as the Traveler, the arrival of which ushered in a great Golden Age that saw mankind colonizing the newly remade worlds of Sol including Mercury, Venus and Mars, [6] even the moons of Jupiter. [7] [8]
But this Golden Age would not last. Unbeknownst to humanity, the Traveler had an ancient enemy; [6] a powerful Darkness that precipitated the Collapse and nearly wiped humanity out, [9] if not for the intervention of the Traveler who sacrificed itself to push back the assailing Darkness. [10] And with its dying breath, the Traveler created Ghosts [11] to seek out those worthy of carrying on its task. [12]
In the dark decades after the Collapse, [13] Humans, Exos, and Awoken found the Traveler where it made its last stand and built the Last City within its protective veil, fighting countless wars to keep its peace. From that dark age,Guardians were born.

Technology
During the Golden Age, humanity's technological achievements had been high. Interplanetary travel was used frequently and new technologies helped build an empire across the entire Solar System.
Approximately seven hundred years[14] after the Traveler's arrival, humanity appears to have reclaimed some, if not the entirety of, their former technological prowess, albeit at a smaller scale.
Weaponry
Note: Given that the majority of weapons in the game are significant, only weapons from the Golden Age have been included to lessen down the list.
