The Almighty is a massive Cabal superweapon that was deployed outside of the Sun by Dominus Ghaul, in case his plan to take the Light failed, he would destabilize the magnetic field of the Sun and destroy the Solar System.

Overview

The Almighty is a massive weapon rivaling the size of the Dreadnaught. It orbits outside of the Sun and houses a Cabal base on its surface.[1] When it fires at a star, it begins to destabilize its magnetic field by magnetically linking the star to be destroyed and itself until the magnetic field is lost. Then as a result of the loss of the field, the star collapses into a supernova and destroys the solar system of which the star was part of, while the Almighty teleports to a new location. The Almighty relies on a celestial body as fuel, such as Mercury. As a side effect, the celestial body used as fuel is broken apart. It is said to be Ghaul's life work. After The Guardian disables the Almighty's weapon, the weapon itself remains dormant near the sun and Mercury remains broken apart, but due to the Traveler's light spreading through the Milky Way, Mercury was most likely restored (not completely, as it is still a Machine World controlled by the Vex) and the Almighty was probably either destroyed or sent elsewhere.
