New Light is a campaign released on October 1, 2019 as a tutorial and was later updated to become a complete campaign coinciding with Beyond Light's release date on November 10, 2020. It has received numerous updates since, updating certain rewards and adding additional questlines. One of which being the Learning Light questline, which unlocks new Aspects and Fragments. Overtime, it would expand, with new questlines, replayable campaign missions and strikes to further enhance the experience and grant free-to-play players a larger and far more engaging experience

Plot[edit]

The plot of New Light would continue to grow with each main expansion, with the initial release mainly focused around introducing new players and new characters to the world of Destiny through helping a Hunter known as Shaw Han and his attempts to hunt down a Hive Wizard known as Navôta, Eir Spawn to avenge his fireteam. With the release of Season of the Chosen, the Guardians would return to the Cosmodrome, and aid Shaw Han in sabotaging House of Dusk operations and thwarting their plot to secure the weapons within. Chapter 3 would release with The Witch Queen, and would send the players off to Venus where they, with the assistance of Alana Reyn, would reclaim the lost territories of the Ishtar Sink from the Vex, as well as stoping a Fallen Splicer and the arrival of the Taken in the Season of the Haunted and Season of Plunder respectively. Chapter 4's release with Lightfall would have the New Lights visit far more familiar territory, from the European Dead Zone, Nessus and the Dreaming City, as they face off against the remnants of the Red Legion and put an end to Primus Rahl and his Light harvesting operations. Finally, with Chapter 5 caping off the New Light journey and easing players into the Light and Dark Saga, Guardians would venture to the Moon and the Dreadnaught in reprised missions as they investigate strange activities and face off against the Hive and Taken, as well as the waking Nightmares of the Black Fleet.
