A Vestige is a Hive rune of soulfire marked on the ground summoned by Watchers of Crota and Wakers of Crota.
Gameplay
Vestiges appear during the missions Siege of the Warmind and The Wakening. Guardians that come into contact with a Vestige suffer immediate damage. Vestiges persist for the duration of the activity, and will not dissipate. Some Vestiges will be spawned automatically to designated spots, such as four that surround the base of the Soul of Crota, while others are selectively aimed at where Guardians are standing.
Trivia
During the mission Siege of the Warmind, a notification will tell when a Vestige as been summoned. It reads "A Waker of Crota has summoned a Vestige", despite the fact you are facing Watchers not Wakers.
