Charlemagne was one of the great Warminds, a vast machine intelligence built by the ancient powers of Mars, created during the Golden Age.[1]
Trivia
- Charlemagne is a character mentioned during the game's pre-alpha, but has had virtually no mention in the vanilla game. Older articles claimed players were to retreive a shard of his core intelligence.[1] Ghost mentions the Dust Palace once housing "The Warmind of Mars" but is never referenced by name. A vault was named after him, Charlemagne's Vault (also not in the final game), said to contain Thorn.[2] Charlemagne was finally revealed to still be a part of the Destiny universe, according to this classified mission item, where one of the nodes ends with the letters "CHLM," standing for Charlemagne.
- Historically, Charlemagne or Charles I, was the legendary 8th century Christian king of the Franks and the first Holy Roman Emperor. His attempt at unifying Europe, the first time since ancient Rome, and attempt to resurrect the Roman Empire which fell to the Germanic tribes in 476 C.E., may allude to humanity's attempt to reclaim their own empire, forged during the Golden Age, which dissolved after the Collapse.
