Guardians had originally assumed that they were ordinary shells for warfare against entrenched Vex positions, but later reports showed they were actually explosives for mining and engineering purposes: potentially enough firepower to crack a planetary objects or moons, with such example being that a Cabal Fleet used them to blow up Hive War moons from the inside.[1]
The Goliath Tank is believed to be able to fire Planet Crackers from its main cannon.[citation needed]
