The Dread^[1] are an enemy faction created by the Witness, first seen with the Tormentors during the events of Lightfall. They are composed of beings reshaped by the latter into its "perfected" form, with its Disciples serving as a genetic blueprint for other Dread creations to have descended from their lineage and remnants of other conquered species transfigured into its own army using stolen Light from The Traveler.

Command structure

Attendant — Psion units that send out a wave of Stasis energy and inflict slow on targets caught in the wave's path.
Weaver — Psion units that send out a wave of Strand energy to pull its target towards it.

- Tangling Weaver
Grim — A highly mobile flying enemy that slows and suppresses a Guardian’s abilities if they get too close.
- Resonating Grim
Husk — An acrobatic melee bruiser that sends a deployable geist enemy toward you unless you hit their weak spot with a final blow.

Subjugator — Units that support their allies with Pyramid drones similar to the Stormcaller's Arc Soul and cast a variety of Stasis or Strand attacks with their spears.
- Harbinger – Strand-wielding Subjugators.
- Omen — Stasis-wielding Subjugators.
Tormentor — Brute-like units that can cast Void attacks with their scythes, and grabs their target to perform the Dark Harvest move.
