Barrier Guards are a large and powerful variant of Hive Knights that are encountered at the end of The Investigation Mission. They attempt to prevent the Guardian from leaving the fortress in Savathûn's Throne World.[1]
Gameplay
When the player reaches the exit to fortress, it will blocked of with barrier of Hive magic, and the Scorn will be seen clashing with Lucent Brood forces across the way. Upon getting closer, three Barrier Guard Knights will spawn throughout the area; one wielding a Shredder in the center, and two others armed with Boomers on the left and right sides. Barrier Guards are capable of creating and throwing Acolyte Grenades at long ranges, which leave a lingering pool of flames where they land. They can also enter Berserk Mode, which will cause them to charge at the you and attempt to slam you with their weapon. Despite this, their defensive capabilities are lacking, and they can be taken down with relative ease so long as you are careful of their grenades and they don't try to overwhelm you. Once all three Knights have been killed, a Lightbearer Wizard will spawn, who summon two Major Blistered Knight variants of the Barrier Guards when she has lost enough health. When playing the mission in Legendary mode, however, the Wizard will summon the regular Ultra versions, and will spawn several throughout the duration of the battle.
