Somewhat disturbingly, Ravagers appear to lack heads—instead having a metal cap firmly affixed to the stump of their neck, much like Abominations. They make repulsive gurgling noises when spotting an enemy, taking damage or dying, suggesting that they are making noises with what is left of their neck.  Given that Ravagers seem to lack a head, it is unknown how they are able to see, hear or think, given that they lack visible eyes or ears, and also do not appear to have a brain.  It is possible that, like the Vex, Ravagers have their brain located somewhere else in their body. It may also be that they are more like the Taken, with no life or will of their own but controlled by some higher power as mindless puppets.  In that case, it is likely that the Ravagers are controlled by some sort of higher Scorn master.
Whilst fierce, their censer weapons can be exploited as a strategic weakness. Targeting the fiery head of the censer will cause a Solar explosion. The flames from the explosion will immediately consume the Ravager, while also damaging/killing nearby enemies. If the Ravager is killed with non-precision damage, their censer will remain on the ground, vulnerable to being shot and exploding in the same manner as when the Ravager was still alive. This can allow for a sort of trap-laying tactic, wherein a Guardian kills a Ravager without shooting their censer, allowing other enemies to walk over the corpse, then shooting the censer. The censer then acts rather like an explosive barrel, consuming the Ravager and nearby enemies with its raging Solar flames, while also setting off any nearby other censers from other slain Ravagers.

Ravagers are a class of melee-focused Scorn.[1]

Overview[edit]

Ravagers wield flaming censers as weapons, charging their foes head-on before slamming their censer into the ground, causing an explosion that leaves a lingering pool of fire which inflicts damage to all enemies caught within its range.

Occasionally, you may encounter Ravagers with a Stasis Censer. These Censers when swung down will launch a line of Stasis crystals forward that, if they hit, will freeze the target for 2 seconds, and if the Censer is shot it will release an explosion that will freeze surrounding Scorn. The line of Stasis crystals replaces the lingering pool of fire.
