Transcript[edit]

"And my vanquisher will read that book, seeking the weapon, and they will come to understand me, where I have been and where I was going."

Helhest receives a series of messages from Donovan-17.

Unknown Contact: I have an update. Meet me in Haven.

Helhest: Who is this?

Unknown Contact: Next time you ask me to fix your Awoken contraption, could you at least remember my name, Miss?

Helhest: Apologies. I rarely receive personal messages.

Helhest: I'm on my way.

Helhest arrives at Donovan's workshop.

Donovan-17: I fixed most of the broken parts, but some of the damage to the hardware resulted in an irreversible data loss.

Donovan-17: Meaning you can start it up now, but it's incomplete.

Donovan-17: You'll need to find a way to restore any corrupted or missing data.

Helhest: Thank you.

Helhest: I tried accessing its built-in permissions and detected that its system hibernation has ended.

Helhest: It's running normally now.

Helhest: But…why is there no response when I try to start it?

Donovan-17: Your familiarity with Awoken technology is admirable, Miss.

Donovan-17: But have you considered that this device has been in hibernation for years now and needs a good charge?

Donovan-17: And I presume you'll need a compatible converter, which you can find at the Archives.

Helhest: …Alright then.

Helhest goes to the Archives and towards the back, where a computer set up is stationed in a small alcove off to the side. She hooks up the projector and activates it.

Grom: It can start up, Helhest.

Grom: But…why do I get the feeling something's wrong?

The projection of the Awoken girl begins speaking.

Awoken Girl: Have you come to kill me?

Helhest: What? No, wait, there must be some misunderstanding.

Helhest: I'm Helhest, and this is Grom. We're currently in Haven, a city under Lord Radegast's protection.

Helhest: You're safe here. Did you encounter some sort of danger?

Awoken Girl: …Grom? A lord? And…you've become a Lightbearer…?

Awoken Girl: I see… Of course. There may have been some misunderstandings. My apologies.

Awoken Girl: I am the White Queen, and I am from the Reef, an Awoken settlement far from Earth that is inaccessible to outsiders.

The White Queen: Protected from alien invasions, the Reef's technology developed far more rapidly than Earth's.

The White Queen: One faction among the Awoken, the Outreachers, wishes to use our technology to help Earth recover—to unify our disparate people.

The White Queen: I am the leader of that faction.

Grom: …Their leader? But you look like…well, like a little girl.

The White Queen: This image is simply a vessel for a consciousness. I could be a child, or I could be an adult.

The White Queen: I could even be you or her. I could be an amalgamation of millions of minds. I could be anyone.

The White Queen: That's one of the reasons I am their leader—because I can be a bridge connecting the consciousness of all.

Helhest: Outreach, connection… That is what we seek…

Helhest: For a long time, I have been wondering how we can unite all of humanity.

Helhest: If your goal is as you say—to "bring Awoken technology back to Earth"—then maybe I can help you.

The White Queen: Apologies, Helhest, but I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you.

The White Queen: I didn't come to Earth to fulfill my mission. Rather, I fled here.

The White Queen: In actuality, the true Queen of the Reef belongs to the Isolationists, the faction that opposes ours.

The White Queen: They do not wish to compromise the Reef's independence by revealing its existence, nor do they wish to involve themselves in Terran conflicts.

The White Queen: I fled in that escape pod because the Queen's operatives were coming to assassinate me.

Grom: So the escape pod landed here alone, and the mothership's whereabouts are unknown…

Helhest: But at least you brought hope, and that hope has fallen here on Earth.

Helhest: We share the same goal.

The White Queen: Hah. I suppose we do, Helhest… Helhest.

The White Queen: If you could restore and upgrade my previously stored data, I could rally my companions and carry out our mission.

The White Queen: Together, we could bring Awoken technology to Earth and rebuild its civilization.

The White Queen: I stored a portion of my data in the driver module on the mothership.

The White Queen: But we'll need to find the crash site first.

Grom: The nearest aeronautics campus is in Jiangshi Metro.

Grom: Records of all monitored flights within Earth's orbit are stored there.

Helhest: Then let's be off.

Helhest enters the Lanyue factory.

Helhest: If we can learn the escape pod's flight trajectory, we could then deduce where the mothership crashed.

Helhest: We'll need direct access to the Aeronautics Campus's mainframe to view that data, Grom.

Helhest travels deeper into the factory, defeating Fallen forces along the way.

Grom: Actually, Helhest, I wanted to ask you… Can we really trust this White Queen?

Helhest: …I inspected the device's internal mechanics, and she's no AI or whatever.

Helhest: She's a real, living consciousness.

Helhest: As far as I know, there's nothing on Earth that could graft a mind to a machine and form such a biological cluster. Not even Lord Felwinter would be able to do such a thing.

Helhest: It's a level of technology far exceeding what humanity is currently capable of.

Helhest: If we could use what the Reef has developed… It's worth a try, at least.

Grom: What I mean is, if she's not actually…

Helhest: Then I'll deal with her.

Helhest enters the factory's mainframe room and goes a computer set up at the back of the room.

Grom: This is the place.

Grom: I can get around the firewall to gain access…

Grom begins to use the device and sets off the factory's alarm in the process.

Grom: The alarm—! Watch out for Fallen!

Helhest defends Grom from the Fallen reinforcements.

Grom: Got it!

Helhest places the White Queen's projector onto the desk.

The White Queen: This is the escape pod's signal.

Helhest: We can simulate the trajectory of its descent… Just like this.

Helhest: Its trajectory is completely consistent with the one picked up here.

Helhest: But the origin is farther away than we'd imagined.

Helhest: It seems the escape pod launched while it was still above the atmosphere.

Grom: Aha! I found the mothership's coordinates, Helhest. It crashed near Felwinter Peak.

Grom: …Wait a second, Felwinter Peak?!

The White Queen: Is something wrong?

Grom: No, um… Just some coincidences.

Helhest: Copy the coordinates and flight path, Grom. I need to report this to Lord Felwinter.
