Transcript[edit]
- Wolf receives a series of messages from Attal.
Attal: Want to experience the joys of teaching?
Attal: I'm looking for instructors for a group of Eliksni kids.
Attal: You can teach any lesson—literature, singing, dancing… Anything!
Attal: Come to the Haven bonfire and talk to Attal if you're interested!
- Wolf arrives at the bonfire. Attal is by the fire with three Eliksni children. Gwynn is there as well, standing off to the side and watching.
Attal: Finish reading the poems with your classmates, then you can play.
Eliksni Child: Want…play!
Attal: Making a scene won't help you. Come on.
- Wolf approaches Gwynn.
Gwynn: Huh…
Gwynn: I didn't think anyone would show up.
Gwynn: But… If anyone were going to come, it would be you.
Wolf: I take it I'm the first?
Gwynn: And quite possibly the last.
Gwynn: I doubt Haven is home to anyone capable of matching her naivety.
- Wolf approaches Attal.
Attal: Wolf?
Attal: Yay! Finally, a visitor!
Attal: I'm so happy to see you!
Attal: I've been waiting a long while. You're the first to come!
Attal: So, what do you want to teach the kids?
Wolf: Not quite sure. Thought I'd stop by for some inspiration.
Wolf: After all, Eliksni children are umm…not something you see every day.
Attal: And now that you've seen them—aren't they the cutest?
Attal: They're not quite able to speak our language yet, but they'd be super happy to play some simple games with you!
Wolf: I'm more interested in why you're looking after them, seeing as the Fallen are, you know…our enemies.
Attal: Ah, that… You could say it's a recent development.
Attal: I was out in Jiangshi Metro collecting ingredients for some salves.
Attal: While I was there, I ran into some guerrillas returning from a mission…
- The scene shifts to the past. Attal is in the Jiangshi Metro Station Camp. A group of injured guerrillas is nearby.
Swift: My lady, there seems to be some wounded over there.
Attal: Let's check on them.
Attal: He's in pain…
Attal: Mint, you're up!
- Attal heals the injured guerrillas.
Wu Minh: Am I…healed?
Wu Minh: Thank you, Lightbearer!
Gah Lin: My…my wound!
Gah Lin: …Is this…the Light…? The Traveler's blessing!
Gah Lin: Thank you… Thank you so much…
Yi Li'ke: So warm… I've never felt such a power…
Attal: Are you feeling any better? Is anything else troubling you?
Yi Li'ke: A Lightbearer…? Thank you! That Light of yours did wonders.
Attal: Rest up. You'll be good as new in no time.
Duo Jih: Excuse me, Lightbearer… Do you have a minute? C-could you do us a favor?
Attal: Of course. What happened?
Duo Jih: We were in a hurry during our retreat, and because of that, we left behind the antiseptic we found…
Duo Jih: Now our reserves are critical…
Attal: Do you remember where you lost it?
Duo Jih: In a small abandoned warehouse, just north of the back street. We'd retrieve them ourselves, but…
Attal: Stay here and rest—you need it. Leave the supplies to me.
Attal: I'll be back with good news in no time!
- Attal begins to head toward the warehouse.
Attal: What's that up ahead…?
- In the commercial street, a group of Fallen is standing off against a lone adult Eliksni. The lone Eliksni runs off when the group becomes hostile towards Attal. Attal defeats them.
Swift: Is that lone Eliksni…purple? Or does my eye deceive me?
Attal: I couldn't make it out. He was too fast.
Swift: Hmm, perhaps I was mistaken then…
- Attal continues towards the warehouse.
Swift: Shhh, I hear something… Huh? What are these Fallen doing?
- Three Dregs are in the path, messing with something. Attal defeats them.
Swift: Attal, look here.
- They investigate an item on the ground where the Dreg were.
Swift: It's a communicator. I'll try to translate the message.
Swift: It says the recipient should find a Servitor to provide Ether for the children.
Swift: They should try to escape the House of Devils' pursuit and…live on with the last hope of their House…
Attal: …This doesn't sound good.
Attal: I wonder if that lone Eliksni dropped it.
Swift: If I had to take a guess, they were likely caught in an inter-House conflict, and the House of Devils gained the upper hand.
Swift: We might find something on this at the Haven Archive if you're interested.
Attal: Then I'll take this with us. It might come in handy.
Attal: Oh, I almost forgot! The antiseptic! Swift, how much farther?
Swift: We're almost there. Just head north a little longer and… Wait, is that…?
- A Skiff drops off a Fallen squad directly in front of the warehouse. The warehouse has a barrier active in its entrance, preventing anything from entering.
Attal: They're rallying toward…
Swift: The warehouse!
- Attal defeats the Fallen and gets closer to the warehouse. The previous lone Eliksni can be seen on the other side of the barrier.
Swift: That's the lone Eliksni.
Attal: Yep…and with our antiseptic, too.
Swift: I assume you'll be trying the "peaceful approach" first?
Attal: You know me so well!
Swift: *sighs* Take care not to get yourself hurt.
- Attal walks up to the barrier and talks with slow, clear words to the Eliksni.
Attal: Hello. I mean you no harm.
Attal: It's just… You have something that I need.
Survivor: …
Attal: I found a communicator. Is it yours?
Attal: I can give it back to you.
Survivor: …
Attal: Looks like talking is getting us nowhere… Umm…Swift…
Attal: I'm going to do something a little risky. Hide yourself.
Swift: What? …Very well—but I'm ready to call Gwynn if things go south.
- Attal puts her weapon down onto the ground.
Attal: See? I promise I won't hurt you. You have my word!
Attal: Now… Would you like to unlock the door?
Survivor: …
- The Eliksni retreats farther into the warehouse, still visible, before lowering the barrier from the entrance.
Attal: …Swift! Did you see that? He unlocked the door like I asked!
Swift: Good. But no sudden movements, and keep your distance.[Note 1]
Swift: Don't make him feel threatened.
Attal: Great! A friendly beginning!
- Attal slowly walks halfway through the warehouse and puts down the communicator.
Attal: Now I'm just going to go inside and grab a box. There's no need to worry.
- Attal retrieves the antiseptic, then addresses the Eliksni.
Attal: Good… I won't shoot, and neither will you. We both—
- The Attal from the present begins speaking.
Attal: "Just like that. I was going to—"
Swift: "Attal dear, the kids are arguing."
Swift: "Would you come check on them?"
Attal: "Oh, you little troublemakers…"

- ^ If the player tries to approach the Eliksni, an invisible wall blocks the path. Swift also says:
Swift: Careful now. Don't get too close.
