Gouge is the final mission in The Exile's Accord Strangelet quest in The Edge of Fate.

Objectives[edit]

  • Dismantle the House of Exile Prime Servitor
Locate the House of Exile's Prime Servitor, obtain the Stranglet capsule they defend, and put an end to the dark matter distribution driving the House mad.
  • Destroy the shield generator
  • Defeat Largos, Distribution Servitor

(Mission begins)
Curtilage Divide, Kepler

  • Drifter: All right, hero. If the kid's lead is good, the House shouldn't be expectin' ya.
  • Lodi: My lead is good. Our Strangelet's here. I can feel it.
  • Ghost: Then let's get in quick and find this Servitor.
As the Guardian proceeds to the location of the Prime Servitor, they pass the body of an Exile Dreg.
  • The Archon: Deathless, you… arrive, yes! As it was foretold! This is one of the fated clashes, my Exiles!
The Guardian heads deeper into the Curtilage Divide and faces a band of Exile forces. Once they are defeated, they destroy a device powering a nearby barrier is disabled, allowing to proceed further. As they continue, they pass more Exile Dreg bodies.
  • The Archon: Our Prime will mettle-test the Deathless. It is blessed with the Giver's powers! House of Exile will defend it until the end.
  • The Archon: Sooner to die, sooner to ascend, and be cradle-kept in the Giver's embrace.
The Guardian continues deeper into the Curtilage Divide, defeating more Exile forces, destroying a Distribution Servitor and destroying another device powering barriers blocking their way. After passing through the first barrier, they briefly feel an brief earthquake with some dark matter distortion.
After destroying another Distribution Servitor blocking the way, the Guardian enters the Auger's Bethel.
  • Lodi: I was hoping this would get their attention. Next time we have a quiet moment, I want to try to get him talking. It's worked before.
  • Ghost: Hmm. There's a high concentration of dark matter running through this facility.
  • Ikora: Could the Prime Servitor be integrating it into the House's Arc network?
  • Ghost: Whatever the Archon's planning, he must need the Servitor.
  • Lodi: That's a good angle to apply pressure. I'll work it.
The Guardian takes out more Exile forces and make it past a laser barrier utilizing a Relocator.
  • Lodi: Do you feel it, Levaszk? Walls are closing in. If the Deathless destroys your House's Prime Servitor… how can you be favored by the Giver?
  • The Archon: Our Prime stands in defiance of the Deathless, in service of its Holy Archon. It will be reborn and ascend into the timeless space.
  • Drifter: Sounds pretty fishy to me, kid.
  • Lodi: Admit it, Levaszk. You’re a false prophet. And right now, you're terrified because your plan won't work without your Servitor.
  • The Archon: Only my vision shows the path. My ever faithful! I will deliver your promised ascension!
Utilizing the Relocator and Matterspark, the Guardian continues deeper into Auger's Bethel.
  • Lodi: Archon, how do you plan to ascend without the Strangelet? It's all falling apart, isn't it?
  • The Archon: We are cunning. In the depths unreachable, we prepare our voyage. You believe you stopped us? [laughs] You… you cannot stop our fated harvest!
Making their way deeper, the Guardian destroys a Superior Distribution Servitor after destroying a device maintaining its immunity shield. After destroying another lesser Distribution Servitor, a barrier is disabled, allowing them to proceed where they come upon a pipe filled with tripmines.
  • Drifter: You're not dropping that without getting shredded, hero.
  • Ghost: Maybe we can bypass it, like the earlier barriers.
Using a Relocator, the Guardian is able to evade the pipe and continues deeper as another small earthquake happens.
  • Ikora: Lodi, it appears your lead checks out. Here's our Prime Servitor, and the energy signature coming off of it matches the singularity.
  • Ghost: It's definitely holding the strangelet capsule we're looking for.
  • Lodi: I told you my intel was reliable. Now, you take out the Servitor, and I'll get the Archon to talk.
The Guardian disables the lockdown, which calls in Exile forces, including a Distribution Servitor, First Holy Vessal.
  • Drifter: Got a whole flock of smaller Servitors buzzin' around! Damn, they're everywhere!
  • Lodi: They're like watchdogs. We'll have to clear them out to get to the Prime.
The Guardian moves into another room, which the First Holy Vessel approaches and calls up a barrier.
  • Drifter: That Servitor's tripped some kind of magnetic lockdown!
  • Ghost: It's cut off the generator!
Using a large pipe, the Guardian is able to escape the room and destroy the shield generator.
  • Ghost: Shield down!
The Guardian then destroys the Distribution Servitor, opening the way to the Exile's Prime Servitor; the Giver's Bounty.
  • The Archon: Can your flesh withstand a dissection, atomic? Visions of your scattering, come to be.
After sustaining enough damage, the Giver's Bounty puts up an immunity shield.
  • Ghost: I'm picking up more Servitors flooding in. We'll need to take them out.
  • Lodi: I know you're listening, Levaszk! I know your people are, too! They're watching the Deathless shed light on your lies. Doubting you.
  • The Archon: Our Ketch takes flight—our drills, tipped with the Giver's power, into the singularity we ascend!
Using a Relocator, the Guardian moves to another part of the arena. Another Distribution Servitor blocks them into another sector.
  • Ghost: Another shield generator's vulnerable!
The Guardian uses a Relocator to escape into the generator room and destroy it. They then destroy the Second Distribution Servitor, disabling the barrier to the Giver's Bounty.
  • Lodi: Ugh… yup. Stomach's turning… that's another shield down.
After dealing enough damage to it, the Giver's Bounty once again puts up its immunity shield.
  • The Archon: We will be timeless. The Deathless will know the Giver-smite as it tears through their false heart and flimsied will.
  • Lodi: There it is. Your plan: A full-scale push into the singularity… and those rumors of using a powered-up Ketch were right on the money. Lo hice! Thank you for your cooperation.
  • The Archon: [growls threateningly]
The Guardian uses a Relocator to move to the final room.
  • Ghost: One more time, Guardian.
The Guardian moves into another room, where the Distribution Servitor, Third Anointed Vessel calls up a barrier to block them in.
  • Drifter: Next generator's tight… looks like there's a crawlspace under the floor.
  • Ghost: We'll find a way through.
The Guardian uses Matterspark to get to the shield generator.
  • The Archon: You storm with cloud liars at your back! You rip what is not yours, and break what others build! See what they take from us, my family? My House! Stand with your Archon against the Deathless blight! Protect your Giver! Protect your Holy Servitor!
The Guardian destroy the shield generator and the Distribution Servitor, allowing access to the Giver's Bounty again. The Guardian successfully destroys the Prime Servitor, and then takes the Strangelet capsule.
  • The Archon: Not like this…
  • Ghost: It's over, Levaszk. Your Prime Servitor is lost, and we have its strangelet capsule.
  • The Archon: I reject this. We reject this. A defeat here was always a possibility-met. Just one of many paths through the Grand Design! I am victorious. Exiles victorious! We are fated to conquer the Deathless! Defeat looms for those who reject the Giver's embrace! You will see as I have seen! Exiled children of Levaszk, the Giver's arms await us! We will bore into the timeless space—and ascend!
  • Lodi: Timeless space? They want to go into the black hole. Make it big enough so they can go through. THAT'S ascension?
  • Drifter: Look at this coward. Running off every line he can think of. We might've broken him.
  • Lodi: But you picked that up? They're gearing up to try to harvest a member of the Nine… I-I have no earthly idea how, but it can't be good.
  • Drifter: You dismantled that con like a pro, kid. Got him spilling everything just to save face. Nice work.
  • Lodi: Thanks for the assist.
