Transcript[edit]
(Mission begins)
Assimilated Easement, Kepler
- Ikora: You got me, III. I'm paying attention now. I hate these even more.
- Ghost: I agree. This part always makes my shell itch. I actually don't… feel you when we're in one of these, Guardian. Let's move quick.
- The Guardian passes through a dark matter portal in a subway train, that takes them to another part of the Easement.
- Ikora: Focus, Rey. Here and now. You're entering the Vex exclusion zone, Guardian. Find how they're co-opting the Nine's power and put a stop to it.
- Ghost: Huh. Deep scans are picking up dark matter… and deep-mantle drilling. This place looks like a quarry geared towards mining out the anomaly's power.
- Ikora: So they're using III on the other side to strengthen their shields? We can't remove all the dark matter, but we can neutralize the threat long enough to push deeper into the canyons. I want this refinery in flames, Guardian.
- The Guardian enters the Stellar Sink and encounter Choral Vex forces.
- Ikora: Orin, how does dark matter relate to the Nine? My understanding is it's non-reflective and has odd qualities, but is still natural.
- Orin: The Nine are, in simple terms, made of dark matter, It tangles with enough mass, like they do.
- Ikora: So the Vex are tapping dark matter from the anomaly, and that matter is tangled with the Nine's power? That must be what the Vex are keeping contained — some live wire that lets them tap into whatever the Nine were doing, and reprogram it.
- The Guardian uses Matterspark slip through Vex structures and run into some dark matter particles that charge their Matterspark. They then find an Eclipse Converter blocking their way.
- Ghost: You're carrying a lot of energy. Probably enough to shatter that conflux pylon. That should lower the barrier and let us out.
- The Guardian activate their Matterspark blast, which destroys the Eclipse Converter and lowers the barrier to let them progress.
- Orin: You are here. This is where they refine their power.
- Ghost: Wait, I'm picking up Eliksni signatures. The House of Exile just ignited a Glimmer Drill.
- Ikora: One enemy force stealing the Nine's power is enough. Shut down their operation. Then we deal with the Vex.
- The Guardian defeats the Exile force.
- Ghost: That's the last of the Exiles. Now for the Vex. Guardian, you're looking for a series of conversion engines tied to conflux pylons.
- Ikora: Like I said, Guardian… leave it in flames.
- The Guardian takes about Choral Vex forces and, using charged Matterspark blasts, destroys the eclipse energy converters.
- Ghost: That's the last converter… refiner… whatever. The Vex can't convert any more dark matter. Wait… Vex Mind incoming!
- Orin: The overseer who holds hourglass sands.
- Ikora: I bet they break just the same.
- Orin: [snorts] The Titan in me is blushing.
- The Guardian damages one of Aphomosis's frames and forces it to activate an immunity shield.
- Ghost: It's shielded! Our weapons won't work.
- Orin: You'll need the Nine's power to punch through!
- Using charged Matterspark blasts, the Guardian is able to take out Aphomosis's shields and destroy the two Wyvern frames.
- Ikora: Why would the Vex need the Nine for shielding? I've seen a Minotaur phase through time to dodge an attack.
- Orin: Against something paracausal, that phasing is a coin flip. The fourth dimension doesn't have that hindrance.
- Ikora: Knowing the Nine can subvert our agency is bad enough. But you're saying they can predict futures the Vex can't?
- Orin: The Vex find a future that suits them. The Nine engineer one through… intermediaries and pressure.
- Ikora: That's a subtle, insidious difference. What entitles them to bend our reality to their whims? Surely they follow some rules.
- Orin: Ikora… I know what it feels like to have your autonomy brushed aside. That woman is dead, and Lodi worked hard to protect her memory, but in the eyes of the Nine, you exist simultaneously. A constant.
- Ikora: Stop, Orin. These borders matter. I know who I am.
