(Mission Begins)

Aionian Campus, Kepler

  • Ghost: The destructive activity in the agricultural zone is reading as Vex. They're the ones attacking the food supply.
  • Lodi: Stop me if this one is obvious, but d-do Vex… need to eat?
  • Ikora': Not in any fashion we'd recognize.
  • Lodi: Sounds like an empty life. Then this is just… sabotage against the Aionians.
  • Ikora: As if they weren't face enough. The Nine, the Vex, AND a singularity ripping the planet apart — that's too obvious a coincidence to ignore.
The Guardian enters a dark matter portal in a subway train, which sends them to another area of the Campus. They encounter a Vex barrier blocking the way, but they are able to get around using Matterspark through nearby vents. Fighting their way through Choral Vex forces, they find a large Vex cube being shielded by an Uplifted Minotaur.
  • Ghost: That Vex looks like it's protecting something… Guardian, watch out!
The Guardian defeats the Uplifted Minotaur, which allows them to destroy the cube. After which, they use Matterspark to make it through the vents and destroy a Fallen device that clears the Rosetta frequency.
  • Lodi: The Vex tended to just let me pass on by before you showed up.
  • Ikora: Excuse me? The Vex ignored you?
  • Lodi: Guess they didn't see me as a threat. What can I say? I have a friendly face. [chuckles]
Using an Aionian command, the Guardian opens a door and continues.
  • Ikora: Lodi, how are you so adept with the Aionians' language? You said you've been here a few weeks at best.
  • Lodi: Oh, I was — I was made for this. [chuckles] I'm a translator. I especially love languages I've never heard before.
The Guardian reaches the Agricultural Center, where they find the Vex shielding the Aionian's food. They destroy the Vex and transmat the Aionian's food. As they move to retrieve the final cache, the Vex begin to spawn in led by the Devastator Mind.
  • Ghost: There's the Vex!
After damaging it enough, the Devastator Mind dives into the ground and reemerges with an immunity shield.
  • Ghost: I hate it when they do that. Guardian, let's redirect and get that shield down.
The Guardian takes out an Uplifted Minotaur and destroy a Vex cube, then using Matterspark to slip through the vents to disable a Fallen device which lowers a Vex barrier and the Devastator's Mind immunity shield. The Guardian repeats this until the Mind is destroyed.
  • Ghost: Guardian, we should take a scan of that drive. See if there's any data stuck offline the Aionians need.
Ghost scans a nearby terminal, granting them Rosetta II.//The Guardian scans the terminal’s contents for useful local data.
  • Lodi: This is — it's incredible. Terms I recognize mapped to advanced concepts… prefixes and suffixes as used in agricultural science… We can use this. Let me do some analyzing, but this is a huge missing piece to understanding the Aionians.

//The Guardian accesses the Rosetta terminal.

  • Ikora: Under the circumstances, what keeps the Aionians here? We could begin evacuation proceedings. They would be safe back on Earth.
  • Lodi: But they wouldn't be home. They could take a piece of Kepler with them, sure, but it's not the same.
  • Ikora: Homes can be replaced, but lives can’t.
  • Lodi: The Aionians might feel differently about that. This place is sacred to them — the Universe determined they belong here. Singularity or not, we can't tell people to pack up and leave yet. Not without helping people who have been stranded from the rest of humanity.
  • Ikora: Agreed. No one's leaving until we learn more.
