"Eliksni! Kridis, the Priestess, cries out to you across the abyss! As we speak, the once-Shipstealer brings the promise of our people to pass. Soon we will rise to true prominence, united under one banner and one Kell—with no gods but ourselves."
— Kridis

Kridis, Dark Priestess is a Fallen of the House of Salvation and a member of the Dark Council following Eramis, Kell of Darkness. Kridis is a skilled Stasis wielder and is as lethal as loyal; who will stop at nothing to advance Eramis's cause.

She is a worshipper of the Darkness and studied the Dark to the point of being obsessed.[1][2] For this reason, not many Eliksni wish to follow her.[3] However, she is a proficient speaker, capable of getting Eliksni to listen to her and has managed to gather a following of Eliksni who also worship the Dark.[4][5]

Biography

An Archon of the House of Devils

Following the arrival of the House of Devils in the Sol System, they claimed the Cosmodrome of Old Russia as their territory. Kridis was stationed there alongside her friends Eramis, the Shipstealer and Phylaks, the Warrior. The trio spent years scavenging, raiding human settlements, and fending off rival Fallen Houses that attempted to encroach upon the Devils' territory. The three dreamed of one day challenging the Kell of House Devils and taking control for themselves.[6]

As a Archon of the Devils, Kridis fought in the Battle of the Twilight Gap alongside her Servitor, Eramis, and Phylaks. Although the trio slew many Guardians, the battle ended in defeat for the alliance of Fallen houses against The Last City and ended their hopes of reclaiming the Great Machine from humanity.[7] Kridis and her friends survived the battle, but Eramis was eventually captured and imprisoned in the Prison of Elders by the Awoken of the Reef, leaving Kridis and Phylaks to continue on without her.[6]

Rise of Salvation

"So I entreat you, children of Riis. Come receive clarity for yourselves! Witness the greatness of the House Salvation and the Kell who leads it. Rejoice, for she who brought our Servitors low where they belong will do the same to the Great Machine!"
— Kridis, calling for all Eliksni to unite under Salvation's banner on Europa

Decades later, Kridis and Phylaks received word from Eramis, who had escaped the Prison of Elders two years prior, inviting them to meet her on Europa, one of the moons of Jupiter. While Phylaks was overjoyed to see their old friend, Kridis noticed that amongst Eramis' advisors was the traitor Variks, the Loyal, who had betrayed the House of Wolves to the Awoken and was the former warden of the Prison of Elders. Phylaks noticed her gaze and assaulted Variks, but Eramis stopped her and demanded that he be let go. Kridis and Phylaks began to doubt their comrade for associating with the treacherous scribe, whom Eramis noted that despite his crime he was all that remained of the House of Judgment. Kridis was skeptical and told her friend that she knew Eramis had no love for the scribes of Judgment, but was convinced by Eramis' argument that Variks was worth keeping alive in order to draw the ear of the Fallen who still lived in the Reef and called the plan clever. Before they could ask further questions, Eramis asked they follow so she could show them what they had built.[6]

Kridis and Phylaks joined the House of Salvation after seeing the city of Riis-Reborn, built upon the ruins of a Golden Age human city, Eventide. Becoming a member of Eramis' Dark Council, Kridis joined her Kell in greeting the arrival of a Pyramid of the Black Fleet when it landed near the Fallen city and granted Eramis the ability to wield the power of Darkness through Stasis.[8] Kridis was soon granted the ability to wield Stasis by Eramis and began writing notes about her experiments and experiences with it. She believed that the Fallen were the Darkness chosen champions and would use it to wipe out humanity while ensuring their names and stories would never be forgotten.[9]

As the Dark Priestess of House Salvation, Kridis broadcasted messages across the Sol System for all remaining Fallen to hear. She called for her people to discard their belief in the Great Machine and believe only in themselves, as they were the ones who had survived the Whirlwind without its aid. Kridis denounced the use of Servitors for survival, as they had been crafted in the image of the Traveler and were a link back to a past the Fallen must turn their back upon. She concluded her messages by asking all Fallen to travel to Europa and join House Salvation in Riis-Reborn to reject the Light and embrace the Darkness they had long fled from but would now draw upon for power to destroy the Great Machine and humanity.[10]

War of Salvation

This section needs expansion. You can help Destinypedia by expanding it.

As House Salvation grew in size and the power of Stasis was spread throughout its ranks, they were betrayed by Variks, who believed that the Darkness was negatively affecting Eramis' mental states and endangering all they had built on Europa. Shortly after Variks fled, Kridis attended a ceremony at which Phylaks was granted the ability to wield Stasis by Eramis. The end of the ceremony was interrupted by a Guardian known as the Young Wolf, who barely escaped from the Fallen city alive.[11] However, the Young Wolf soon acquired the ability to wield Stasis as well and slew Phylaks and Praksis, the Technocrat, another member of the Dark Council. Kridis and Atraks, the Wildcard met with Eramis in the aftermath of Praksis' assassination. Ermais demanded they retaliate and dispatched Atraks to the Deep Stone Crypt to prepare Taniks, the Scarred for revival. Kridis advised that they take pause, expressing some concern over the nature of the Stasis powers and urging caution. As Eramis considered Kridis words, she began losing control of her Stasis gauntlet. Kridis watched in growing concern as her Kell smashed the ice off of her gauntlet and ridiculed the idea of caution as a weakness before declaring she would destroy the Guardians.[12]

Personality and Traits

Prior to joining the House of Salvation, Kridis had been a believer in the Great Machine and hoped it would provide salvation to her people. After embracing the Darkness she preached against that idea and assisted Eramis in degrading the Servitors of House Salvation.[10] Despite her fascination with Stasis, Kridis was also more cautious about its use than her fellow Dark Council members, advising Eramis that the power was not what they had expected.[12]

Trivia

  • Kridis was voiced by Erika Ishii.[13]
  • Kridis is the only Stasis Baron to attack without any sort of weaponry, excluding her Stasis Blades, which are created through her powers rather than constructed out of Fallen technology.
  • Given her closeness to Eramis, her role as a priestess, and her association to Yamiks Prime, House Salvation, it is likely that Kridis is the Archon of her House.
