Dread Devourers are a variant of the Chieftain that appears on the Derelict Leviathan.

Gameplay

They appear as part of the Nightmare Containment Public Event. The Dread Devourers possess all the abilities of regular Solar Chieftains, such as their Solar Absorption Shield and Solar Totem. On higher difficulties of Nightmare Containment, they appear as Overload Chieftains, and possess all their abilities, including their regeneration, multiple totems, and vulnerability to disruption. Once a Guardian deposits a Core of Dread, a Dread Devourer will appear near the Harvester, alongside three Lurkers. It will slowly walk towards the staff, and if it gets in contact with it, it will begin devouring the Shards of Dread accumulated up to that point, five at a time. Therefore, it is essential that Devourers are killed as soon as they spawn, lest they nullify all of the player's progression.
