A Weapon Core is a material rewarded for completing Prison of Elders challenges.
Gameplay
Weapon Cores are rewarded once per week to players for completing the level 34 or level 35 Prison of Elders, or very rarely from the rewards chest at the end. Before the April Update It could be exchanged with Variks, the Loyal for a weapon, or combined with an Armor Core to purchase a reward package with random loot from Variks.[1]
It can now be turned in for reputation with House of Judgment.
