Reed-7 was an Exo Titan who frequently worked alongside Hunter Aisha and Warlock Shayura. During the battle above Earth, he would be killed by the Witness.
Biography[edit]
During the Red War, when Ghaul caged the Traveler's Light,[1] Reed-7, Aisha and Shayura would take part in a mission to Old Chicago and were one of the few survivors when a mysterious entity they were hunting killed the other fireteams by luring and trapping them in the tombs beneath the city. When they were debriefed by the Vanguard after the mission, Reed reported that the entity was smart in its tactics.[2]
During the Arrival of the Black Fleet, Reed-7 would be on Io and encounter the Pyramid there, where a Voice would speak through his Ghost. This event would continue to haunt the Titan.[3]
Some time later, Reed was waiting for Aisha and Shayura, who were running later for the Trials of Osiris.[4] When the two arrived, Reed found them in a heated argument over Sloane's decision to remain on Titan when it was abducted bt the Black Fleet.[5] At first, Reed didn't say anything as he and his teammates moved to join the crowd of Guardians as he was used to hearing arguments between them before (including if Eris Morn was trustworthy, the Vanguard's decision to not go after Uldren Sov after he killed Cayde-6 and if the Hunter Vanguard's death was due to being reckless), but they were getting more intense than usual. Eventually, Reed stepped in and asked Aisha and Shayura if they could discuss it later, which the two begrudgingly agreed to.[4] During a Trials match, Shayura would begin brutally killing one of their opponents, hallucinating them to be a continuously resurrecting Knight.[6][7] While Aisha cried out for Shayura to stop,[6] Reed suddenly begins having an out-of-body experience as he begins hearing blood in his ears as he recalls a memory of Io with his Ghost whispering a plea and "faces frozen in stone". Reed then began hearing a voice telling him that there was only weakness, failure and death in the Light. Eventually, Reed snapped back to reality and helped Aisha restrain Shayura.[8]
When the Traveler began reforming, Reed watched Aisha and Shayura on a rooftop in the Peregrine District, where he could see they were both tense. Though he struggled to keep his eyes on them instead of the Traveler, he could see Aisha looking up at the Traveler in awe, while Shayura looked down over the age of the terrace they were standing on. He thought of them as the Traveler fully reformed, and a pulse of Light washed over them. While Reed's faith in the Traveler was reaffirmed, it would quickly be tested as he saw Shayura walk away as the City erupted into cheers.[9] Sometime later, Reed met with Aisha, who had been running late to take part in the Trials again after she practiced using Stasis. Shayura showed up not long after, with Aisha and Reed sharing a concerned look after she passed. During the match, the two would find Shayura attempting to permanently kill one of their opponents for using Stasis.[10] Ultimately, Aisha was forced to freeze Shayura in Stasis to keep her from destroying their opponent's Ghost. Reed simply looked on, knowing that this would change everything.[11] Following this, Osiris would speak to Reed, telling him not to worry about Shayura and that he would help her through her breakdown.[12]
Sometime later, Shayura would be imprisoned by the Vanguard, but would escape and go on a crusade against anyone she deemed an agent of the Darkness.[13] During the Lucent War, Reed-7 would be present when Shayura surrendered herself to the City following an encounter with a Lightbearer Knight.[14] Following this, Aisha and Reed-7 would be dispatched to patrol the Moon when the Leviathan was drawing Nightmares from the Lunar Pyramid. During this, Reed attempted to reason with Ashia about Shayura's prison sentence, telling her that the Vanguard wouldn't hold a military tribunal in the middle of a war. Aisha, however, hated the idea of Shayura being in a cell for the entirety of the War against the Witness or until they're all dead. Reed told her it wasn't the end of the world and that they had to reach the bottom to climb back to the top, only for Aisha to point to the Leviathan and say that it looked like hell before questioning why they were doing the work of "New Lights". Reed told her that the Vanguard couldn't afford to give them leave after the Lucent Hive had killed many young Guardians in their assault in the Cosmodrome and they thus needed to do what they could.[15] After clearing Fallen from K1 Communion, Reed became fixed on the Vandal he had just killed, seemingly thinking about what Shayura had done to a House Light refugee on Venus. Aisha tried to assure them that it wasn't the case, only for the two to get into an argument that was stopped by Aisha's Ghost, Dunya.[16] The two soon saw what Dynya was trying to tell them; a Nightmare of Shayura had appeared and began taunting them for arguing over which of them was worse than her. As the Nightmare approached them, it asked how long it would be before they got a new Warlock for their fireteam and acted like she never existed. Reed placed a hand on Aisha's shoulder to comfort her and she looked to see his face showed an expression of resolve.[17] Following this, the two would go to visit Shayura in her detention centre.[18]
During the first battle in the Invasion of Earth, Reed-7, Aisha and Shayura would join Amanda Holliday in bombing runs on Shadow Legion warships.[19] However, when the Witness emerged from its Pyramid and moved towards the Traveler, the four Jumpships moved to take it out. When they approached it, Reed felt its eyes on him, sending a chill down his spine as he locked his ship's targeting reticle on it and his head throbbing with the sense-memory of a migrane. Instantly knowing something was wrong, he looked to his Ghost, dead and segmenting before it happens to him too.[20]

Trivia[edit]
- A popular theory says that the fireteam approaching the Witness was the same one that appears in the box art of Destiny, and by extension, the Guardians that appear in its character creation screen. Given that Reed-7's fireteam is confirmed to be the former, if this theory is taken at face value, he, Shayura, and Aisha would be the first Guardians to appear in the final release of the entire franchise.
