"I never believed a machine could know hatred."
— Grimoire description

Sepiks Prime is the Prime Servitor for the House of Devils and served by Riksis, Devil Archon.[1]

It is worshipped by the Devils as their "Machine God" and most notably appears in the Devils' Lair Strike in Old Russia.[2]

In the Rise of Iron expansion, Sepiks returns as Sepiks Perfected enhanced by SIVA technology by the Devil Splicers. It serves as the main boss of remastered version of the Devils Lair strike.

Biography

Early History

Following the death of the Solkis, Devil Kell, the House of Devils established a stronghold within the Cosmodrome of Russia. Absent of their Kell and political leader, the Devils Prime Servitor, Sepiks, gained prominence within the House and ruled the Devils alongside Riksis, Devil Archon, who served it as a caretaker and arbiter of its will.[3] The lack of political leadership allowed Craask, Kell of Kings to exert his influence among the techno-worshiping leadership of the Devils and rule them from the shadows.[4]

At some point, Sepiks authority was challenged when the Devil Splicers, a group of scientists, splintered away from their House as they sought freedom from subsistence on Ether and evolution by augmenting themselves with technology.[5] Among them was the former disgraced Archon Priest, Aksis who led the Splicers.[6]

The majority of the Devils took residence near a colony ship, named Devil's Spire, and established The Devils' Lair as a mecca for the zealous worshipers to offer tribute to their machine god in the form of skulls from dead Guardians.[3] Like many other Servitors, Sepiks Prime was born in the image of the Traveler and the Devils went to great lengths to protect their main source of life sustaining Ether.[7][8] The Prime Servitor also spawned its own line of Sepiks High Servitors, most notably Sepiks-23.

Attack on Devils

For years the whereabouts of Sepiks remained elusive, but rumours hinted towards the Cosmodrome. The Devils dominance was uncontested for centuries until a newly risen Guardian challenged them and slew their Archon, Riksis. This celebrated as the first major victory for the Last City against the Devils since Battle of Twilight Gap and the Devils became vulnerable and heightened their security for Sepiks.[9][10] They recruited Fallen nobility such as Naksis, Devil Baron and a Noble Devil Walker to deter anyone from attacking Sepiks.

The Vanguard Commander Zavala located the High Servitor position underneath a old colony ship and coordinated a Strike against Sepiks.[11] Upon arrival the Guardians enter a crossfire between the Ascendent Hive and Noble and Reaver ranking Devils. They disable the Devils security mesh layers, dispose their Baron and Walker and reach the Devil's Lair.

The nearby Devils generate a immunity shield to protect Sepiks, only to be dismantled the Guardians. Sepiks enters into battle and continuously blasts them with its Servitor Eye. The Prime Servitor summons more noble reinforcements to fend off the Guardians and teleports around the Lair. Despite its tactical abilities, Sepiks is destroyed by the Guardians and cripples the Devils leadership and ends the biggest immediate threat to the Last City.

In the aftermath, the Guardians sought to acquire a stealth drive hidden in the Devils Spire and found the destroyed haul of Sepiks still in the Lair. The Devils also previously tried to replace Riksis with a Rising Archon named, Karrhis in hopes of reviving Sepiks, but is also slew.

Gameplay

Sepiks Prime

Sepiks Prime is at first invulnerable but immobile; it will drop its shield and start attacking once all Fallen in the area have been killed. It then attacks in a manner similar to a normal Servitor, firing Void Blasts periodically while teleporting to fixed positions around the area. It may prove to be a hard-to-reach target when at high elevations. If a Guardian is in close enough proximity, Sepiks will continuously wield a deadly health-draining ability called "Servitor Attack" until the Guardian is dead or moves out of range. Sepiks Prime's weak spot is its eye.[12] Killing Sepiks is a Vanguard bounty.[13]

Sepiks Perfected

Sepiks Perfected is encountered twice in the Rise of Iron expansion. It is first encountered in the King of the Mountain Story Mission, where it can be seen leading an assault on Felwinter Peak to destroy the Iron Temple. Lord Saladin orders the Guardian to kill it fast or Felwinter Peak is officially taken over by the Devil Splicers. Upon reaching the top of the mountain, Sepiks Perfected will appear to launch an ambush. It attacks by firing bursts of five Solar Eye Blasts that have high velocity and a tracking ability. In addition, it can fly, levitate, and teleport around the area at will, and can always call upon reinforcements. If faced up close, it will launch a sustained beam that drains Guardians' shields in seconds. Your best bet will be to fight back from afar. When defeated, the mission ends, but Sepiks Perfected isn't officially dead.

Sepiks Perfected makes its last stand at The Devils' Lair Strike. It will have all the aforementioned abilities and will behave like its predecessor, but this time around, it has new capabilities. For one, it plants down SIVA Nodes for area denial, some of which cannot be destroyed; if near one of these, you will be inflicted with the "SIVA Swarm" debuff. It will also be significantly more durable than before purely in terms of health count. However, the main mechanic is an elemental shield that can only be taken down using heavy artillery cannons dropped by certain Splicer Captains: Shock Captains for Arc, Splicer Scorch Captains for Solar, and Null Captains for Void, in that particular order. It will bring up these shields one after another when the previous one goes down. Beware that each cannon only has one round that can be fired. Once all three shields are brought down, it will become permanently vulnerable, allowing Guardians to unleash all their attacks on it, finally laying waste to Sepiks Perfected for good.

Trivia

  • During the mission Cayde's Stash, Sepiks' chassis is still within The Devils' Lair and is a scannable object.
    • Despite being blown into pieces when first destroyed by Guardians in the Devil's Lair, Sepiks Prime in the mission is still intact.
  • Sepiks Prime is resurrected by the Devil Splicers in Rise of Iron as Sepiks Perfected, augmented by SIVA, a technovirus with terrifying capabilities.
    • This makes Sepiks the third Servitor to be Reborn and the second to not bear the title of "Reborn," the second and first respectively is Orbiks Prime while the first Reborn Servitor overall is Kaliks Reborn.
  • Sepiks Prime is the first Prime Servitor to be featured in the Destiny franchise.
  • During the battle against Sepiks Perfected when he puts up his shield, two Cannon Splicer Captains one is the default Splicer Captain and the other one is the normal Captain model but with Splicer colors.
    • Strangely, when you kill the Captain, their model switches to the Splicer Captain model.
  • Sepiks is one of four bosses with more than one encounter at the end of the Strike , the others being the Phogoth, Taniks, and Sekrion, Nexus Mind.
  • Despite being left as an almost encased chassis after its first death, Sepiks Perfected appears with more than half of its encasing gone.
    • This could be due to the transformation it had with SIVA.
