{Mission entry}
- Ikora: I understand your visions have taken the form of trees. I've seen them too. I went back to Io for answers. The last place the Traveler touched. Io will react to your arrival… if you let it.
{Mission start}
The Guardian arrives on Io. A large column of Light can be seen coming out of the Cradle.
- If the Guardian waits before approaching the Cradle.
- Ghost: The Vanguard maps have it marked as "Last Eden."
The Guardian approaches a cliff overlooking the Cradle. A shockwave of Light erupts from the Cradle and knocks the Guardian back partially.
- Ghost: What. Was. That?
- Ikora: Whatever you saw was for you and you alone. The Traveler is speaking to you. Eyes up, Guardian.
The Guardian finds a small tree of Light.
- Vision of Light: Devotion inspires bravery. Bravery inspires sacrifice. Sacrifice… leads to death.
- Ghost: These are different from the other trees we saw…
- Ikora: These visions are constructs of the Traveler's Light. And Light reacts to its surroundings.
The Guardian finds another Tree of Light and clears the Taken Thrall eating the Light at its base.
- Vision of Light: The Garden grows in both directions. It grows into tomorrow and yesterday. The red flowers bloom forever.
The Guardian defeats the Taken Thrall.
- Ghost: The Taken can see the trees. No… they sense the Light.
- Ikora: The Taken are weeds, Guardian. Pull them up.
Another shockwave of Light erupts from the Cradle as the Guardian moved to more Light trees with Taken corruption soaked around their roots. They approach another tree that is surrounded by a Blight, that's also shielding a Ravenous Taken Wizard.
- Vision of Light: You might have been kings and queens of the Deep! But you have toppled Oryx, and you have not replaced him!
The Guardian destroys the Blight and takes out the Taken Wizard. Another shockwave from the Cradle strikes the Guardian as they move to another Blight shielding another Ravenous Taken Wizard.
- Vision of Light: Humanity must have protectors… Will you stand with me?
After destroying the Blight and withstanding another shockwave from the Cradle, the Guardian encounters more corrupted Trees, including on shiedled by a Blight that's also protecting another Ravenous Taken Wizard and Kurumo, the Uprooter.
- Vision of Light: …Even the stars are brighter now… the whole cosmos is ablaze…
The Guardian destroys the Blight and takes out the Ravenous Taken Wizard, but Kurumo flees to the Grove of Ulan-Tan.
- Ghost: The Traveler's been alive for a year. Why has it waited so long to speak to us?
- Ikora: The Traveler gave you a vision even before its rebirth. When Ghaul blocked its Light, the Traveler showed you a path forward. The road to recovery is long, but when we grow stronger, so too does the Traveler.
The Guardian enters the Grove of Ulan-Tan, where they find a fight occurring between Taken forces, led by Val Hragan, Lighteater, and Vex forces, led by Outopos, Stranded. After eliminating them all, the Guardian makes their way deeper into the Lost Sector, finding Kurumo being protected by another Blight covering a Tree of Light. They then destroy the Blight.
The Guardian defeats Kurumo.
- Ghost: Can–can we get closer?
The Guardian approaches the Light tree and retrieves a Seed of Light from it.
- Ikora: Congratulations, Guardian. Remember, when we channel the light, we connect to something much bigger than any one of us. Even departed sparks – like Cayde's – still leave a trace in this luminous web we call the Light.
- After unlocking a new tree to one of the Subclasses, the Guardian uses it to wipe out a horde of Taken, using nearby Light trees that provide Boundless Light to quickly charge their super.
