1. Voices in Light[edit]
Crow's dreams have led you to the EDZ. Enter the Hallowed Grove and find the truth behind his visions.
Follow Crow's dreams. Travel to the EDZ and complete mission "Cry from Beyond".
- 'Cry from Beyond' completed
- "I'm worried about Crow. If these are more than just dreams, it could be the harbinger of something terrible."
- — Ghost
Transcript[edit]
Crow is experiencing troubling dreams that he believes involve a peril in the EDZ. He has trusted you to help him discover if they are more than just dreams.
Travel to the EDZ and complete mission "Cry from Beyond."
- The Crow: Do you have a minute? Something's been going on, and I'm... I've been having these dreams lately. Vivid. Real. Glint... Glint thinks there might be something to them. I'm flying. There's a green forest. Mountains. European Dead Zone, I think. Sometimes the clouds part, and where there should be a bright blue sky, there's just... darkness. I'm free... soaring towards a distant pillar of light. But the dream always ends the same way. That light... flickers like a candle flame and goes out. And then there's... nothing. I can't shake it. It's all I think about... Would you come with me? See if anything's there?
2. Dream of a Dream[edit]
Inside the Hallowed Grove, you found a long-lost fragment of the Traveler and the battered, broken remains of the gun Hawkmoon. It's time to reunite with Crow and discuss what you discovered.
Return to the Tangled Shore to discuss what happened with Crow.
- Return to Crow
- "A weapon, born of the Light and made from the physical essence of the Traveler, like the Tree of Silver Wings. This is unprecedented."
- — Ghost
Transcript[edit]
"It's a cycle," Crow says confidently.
"Life, death, rebirth… The Traveler is trying to tell us something in metaphor because it—or we—lack the words to have a true conversation."
"This gun… an effigy of a firearm spun from the same material as the Traveler. These crystals inside the frame, they're dark but—part of me is certain they should be glowing."
"Glint thinks we need to charge the crystals with Light… as if we're trying to bring the gun back to life." He hesitates. "The way you do with a dead Guardian. I'm ready to test that theory whenever you are."
Collect and generate Orbs of Power to strengthen Hawkmoon.
3. Paracausal Refit[edit]
Together with Crow, you've determined that the paracausal remains of Hawkmoon could accept—and be restored by—the same power that a Guardian wields.
Strengthen Hawkmoon by collecting and generating Orbs of Power.
- Orbs collected/generated: 50
- "The Traveler is made out of paracausal material that is, essentially, alive. It responds to the Light like a living being. Maybe that means it could be restored… like a Guardian born of someone once dead."
- — Ghost
4. Paracausal Refit[edit]
Hawkmoon has accepted the power you gathered and it surges with the Light. Crow will want to see this.
Bathed in the Light, Hawkmoon is reborn. But something is still missing. Return to Crow to discuss this development.
- Return to Crow
- "I can't believe it; it worked! The effigy grew and wove itself out of the Light, replacing the missing components. But something's still missing. A spark, perhaps?""
- — Ghost
Transcript[edit]
Hawkmoon is beginning to transform through your actions.
Crow is reminded of another dream he had; you were holding the effigy, but it was dazzlingly bright. In the dream, you took it to the Shard of the Traveler in the EDZ… but that's all he can remember. He suggests you head there to investigate.
Return to the EDZ and investigate the supplied coordinates.
- The Crow: Hawkmoon is transforming before our eyes. Every step we take, it charges. Grows stronger. On our way back from the EDZ, I remembered something else. A dream of a dream. You were carrying the effigy. It was simply radiant, charged with a power I've never felt before. We were taking it to the Shard of the Traveler, together, and then... I don't know what happens next. But we're going to find out.
5. Further Interference[edit]
After showing Crow the power-charged Hawkmoon, he was reminded of another vision detailing events not yet come to pass. He has directed you to go with him to the EDZ to investigate.
Return to the EDZ and investigate the marked coordinates.
- Investigate the Coordinates
- "First the Taken in the Hallowed Grove, now this mysterious interference. This all feels frustratingly familiar. It feels like Savathûn."
- — Ghost
Transcript[edit]
Trostland, European Dead Zone
- The Guardian returns to the EDZ with Crow.
- The Crow: Guardian, the coordinates the Traveler sent us lead to the dam. It's overrun by Taken, but we're going deep inside. They're less active on those levels. I'll scout out the spots the Taken usually infest. Clear the path for you as best I can.
- Ghost: Do you... come out here often, Crow?
- The Crow: Not as much since we met, but I used to when on assignment. It's quiet out here. No one to bother me... hmph, or for me to bother.
- The paracausal hawk is found in the third story of a nearby ruined building. The Guardian communes with the Traveler-embodied hawk.
6. Further Interference[edit]
Incredible paracausal forces have coalesced at the reservoir in the EDZ, once more taking the shape of feathers forged from the Light. Search the reservoir and prevent Savathûn from finding them.
Collect more paracausal feathers in the reservoir to determine their purpose.
- Feathers collected: 5
- "These feathers are part of the symbolism that the Traveler is communicating to us through, but their meaning is… opaque."
- — Ghost
Transcript[edit]
The Reservoir, European Dead Zone
- The Guardian enters the Reservoir. They collect a paracausal feather.
- Ghost: This feather both exists and doesn't exist. It's a manifestation of potential energy. The choice between action and inaction.
- The Crow: Keep an eye out for Taken. That's exactly the sort of thing Savathûn would love to get her spindly little hands on.
- The Guardian continues further through the drainage system of the dam.
- The Crow: Not to worry you or anything, but there's definitely something going on here.
- Glint: What he means is that we've picked up numerous paracausal readings throughout the dam... and a number of very agitated Taken.
- The Crow: We'll handle Savathûn's Taken, but the other energy signatures are closer to you. Can you look into it?
- The Guardian finds a second paracausal feather.
- The Guardian finds a third paracausal feather.
- The Guardian discovers Crow's Nest.
- The Crow: Don't mind the mess. Glint's a terrible maid. This is just where I come to... get some distance when I need it. Someplace to call my own.
- Glint: It's his Crow's nest.
- The Crow: It absolutely is not.
- The Guardian approaches a piece of cloth.
- The Crow: I forgot this was here. My first memories are waking up under this shroud. The first thing that was mine. It was comforting, somehow. I couldn't bring myself to throw it away. Someone cared enough to lay me to rest. I meant something to them, whoever they are, and that... means something to me.
- The Guardian approaches a Dawning bowl.
- The Crow: Oh, right. Glint gave this to me.
- Glint: It was a gift. It was the Dawning. Your first Dawning.
- The Crow: The first time I ever felt it might be safe to be around other Guardians. I'm not stupid. I know... the person I used to be, he did something terrible. I can feel it when people look into my eyes and see him. The way you looked at me when we met. I don't ever want to know him.
- The Guardian approaches broken tools.
- The Crow: Ahh... ha, yes. Spider wanted all of this thrown out, but I couldn't bring myself to. Even broken, it still might have a purpose to someone. I've heard that before the Collapse, there used to be an art. It took broken things and put them back together with precious metals. It made something new and beautiful out of something that would have just been thrown away.
- The Guardian approaches an empty bottle.
- The Crow: I did not drink that by myself, in case you were curious. In fact, I didn't have any of it. After Glint brought me to life, I quickly came to realize that Guardians recognized me as whoever I was before. They... weren't always kind. Heh. So I took to wearing a helmet to hide my face. Before Spider. Even then, I rescued a Warlock and her Ghost once. She offered me a drink afterward, but I left before she came back with it. I don't know why but I returned for the empty bottle later. I've always wondered how she would have treated me if I'd stayed. If she saw my face.
- The Crow: I've learned many things since my second birth. Fear. Humility. But this... this was where I learned pride. That Sword belonged to the Hive Knight I killed to protect Osiris. It felt good, saving someone so important to the Vanguard. Someone who used to be an outcast. It was like I had finally found my purpose. Like I was brought back for a reason. And there you were, Guardian.
- The Guardian collect their fourth paracausal feather.
- Traversing deeper into the dam, Ishrasek, Lightbinder of Savathûn, and several Lighteater Taken Acolytes ambush the Guardian.
- The Crow: Something's happening. I'm detecting massive gravity distortions in the dam! A little tip from upstairs: when these Taken are destroyed, they'll collapse into singularities of paracausal energy. Use that to disrupt their shield!
- The Guardian defeats Ishrasek, but Velox, Lightseeker of Savathûn, and Teorax, Lightseeker of Savathûn arrive as reinforcements.
- The Guardian defeats the Taken and collect the last paracausal feather.
7. Further Interference[edit]
Having explored the reservoir in the EDZ and battled Savathûn's forces, it's time to rejoin with Crow and discuss what comes next.
After analyzing the feathers, it's time to return to Crow and discuss what you found.
- Return to Crow
- "These feathers are all the same, down to the molecule, and yet at the same time subtly different—changed by the way in which we interact with them. It's like the Traveler is trying to show us the consequences of our actions without… actually showing us anything at all."
- — Ghost
Transcript[edit]
"On our way back, I… felt something. It's a yearning. For change, for… adventure." Crow smiles awkwardly. "It feels childish, but it's like the gun—or maybe the Traveler—wants us to experience triumph."
"Glint thinks this may have to do with elevated states of emotion. Like we need to attune our minds to a specific… wavelength." Crow doesn't seem completely convinced, but there's a part of him deep down that believes it's true.
"I think we should try," Crow asserts. "Together."
Defeat Champions or Guardians in Gambit and Crucible matches.
8. Hunting Party[edit]
Crow believes that the Traveler is trying to send a message through the visions he is experiencing and is asking you to show him what it means to fight like a Guardian.
Defeat Champions or defeat Guardians in Gambit and Crucible matches.
- Champion/Guardian defeats: 200
- "I think Crow might be right. About this being a message, I mean. But I think it's more than just Hawkmoon; I think everything we've done and everything we've learned is all part of the same lesson, I just… I feel like we're missing a piece."
- — Ghost
9. Reforged in the Light[edit]
After having battled Savathûn's forces, charged Hawkmoon with paracausal energy, and followed the Traveler's visions, it is time to journey back to the Hallowed Grove in the EDZ and reforge Hawkmoon.
Enter mission "The Crow and the Hawk" in the EDZ and reforge Hawkmoon.
- Hawkmoon reforged
- "The Traveler has led us every step of the way, through metaphor and visions. The Guardians of the Dark Age would have wished for this kind of guidance. Though I worry… was this what the people of the Golden Age experienced, right before the end?"
- — Ghost
10. For a Purpose[edit]
Savathûn has sent her Taken to stop you from reforging Hawkmoon and carrying out the Traveler's will. You must survive.
The Taken have come to disrupt your communion with the Traveler. Defeat the Taken.
- Taken defeated
- "It's a warning. It's everything. It's us, it's Crow, it's the Taken, it's our path. Guardian, the Traveler is talking about the future. About how the choices we make will impact Crow and whatever his role to come will be."
- — Ghost
