Phobos is one of the asteroid moons orbiting Mars. The Cabal have somehow altered its orbit for unknown reasons, bringing it significantly closer to the planet.[1] A common belief among Warlocks is that Phobos was moved to its current orbit and is being held in place by the Psion Flayers, who are only an order away from unleashing it as a weapon.[2]

Phobos is visitable via the Crucible, at an abandoned Cabal warbase called Black Shield. Guardians also visit Phobos in The Taken King in response to a Cabal distress signal, whereupon they first encounter the Taken.[3]
