Transcript[edit]

"And my vanquisher will read that book, seeking the weapon, and they will come to understand me, where I have been and where I was going."
The following is a verbatim transcription of an official document for archival reasons. As the original content is transcribed word-for-word, any possible discrepancies and/or errors are included.

(Cutscene begins)

The Guardian boards the Zagan Gloriosus in a Piker Brig through a blown hole in the ship.

(Cutscene ends)

Zagan Gloriosus
  • Blue: Touchdown! Aunor, we're in!
  • Aunor: Way-pointing now. Get us control of this ship, Guardian. That]ll give us cover to head down to the Nightfall Station.
  • Blue: Don't give 'em an inch, ace. Push through!
  • Zavala: I won't take the valor you've earned as a renegade by officializing this operation. But make no mistake: You are a message from the Vanguard to the Imperium.
The Guardian fights their way through Imperium forces. Eventually, they exit their Brig to make their way to the bridge.
  • Blue: A Legion directed by a Lightless kid — I can't get over it. Bael's not a Guardian. He's just a punk with a gun.
  • Aunor: At first, I wondered if he lost his Ghost, like Eris or Zavala. But his hate for them makes me doubt it. He's a planet-killer. Bael brought hell to Mars and wants to do the same on Earth. And we made him. He stole his power from a Praxic Vault on Europa. A vault we failed to secure. One of our own citizens. Lightless. Stole his power from our vault. Used it to bootstrap a connection to VI. An unacceptable failure. Nine, fate, and time be damned. We stop him today.
The Guardian's path is blocked by laser barriers.
  • Blue: Let's hustle. Find a way to get these lasers down.
  • Aunor: If you run into Bael out there — make sure you do what Drifter couldn't. Bael's no Dark Guardian. He's just a man. Finish this.
The Guardian makes their way through multiple sectors of the ship, including a firing range with dummies wearing Guardian armor, to find a way to disable the barriers. After taking out a group of Panoply Mechanics, they manage to find a console to disable them.
  • Drifter: My jumpship's screamin' warnings at me, gang. If they start shootin', I don't know how long I can dance with 'em.
  • Blue: Don't worry. If you get atomized, I'll scrap you back together.
  • Drifter: That don't sound too fun for either of us, but thanks all the same. And, uh, Blue? I'm sorry.
The Guardian defeats Barracks Commander Tha'arak.
  • Premier Lume: Opposed Weapon. "Dredgen". You and the coward Hope are pretenders to the name. You intend to be an agent against prophecy. A razor to cut fate from its divine course. You are an object. Nothing more.
The Guardian accesses a console to locate a path forward.
  • Blue: Lume's Psions got the ship locked down; I can't take control from here.
  • Aunor: Backtrack, we can take the main lift to the bridge. We'll face Lume directly.
The Guardian gets on the elevator to the bridge and fights off Imperium forces as it ascends.
  • Blue: Imperium priority channel is howling. Patching you in.
  • Premier Lume: The Inner's Weapon approaches. Dredgen, I offer you tribute to eclipse the sun. Allow me to face them. Allow me this gift.
  • Bael: Go, Lume. Kill them.
Once they reach the bridge, the Guardian approaches Premier Lume on the bridge.
  • Premier Lume: Rise, Weapon. Rise, thing. I offer you this charity: a place in my legend.
After being damaged enough, Premier Lume begins the firing sequence for Nightfall Station.
  • Premier Lume: Eclipse is anathema to you — but it fuels my cuirass. And with it, I will crush you.
The Guardian prevents the Nightfall weapon from firing by shooting four power conduits.
  • Premier Lume: You and Bael deserve each other. You will fight forever. Though you are immortal, you will find his celestial master has made him… difficult to kill.
After enough damage, Premier Lume calls for reinforcements and begins the firing sequence for Nightfall Station again.
  • Premier Lume: Our Empress no longer provides. You and that Earthborn Awoken have seen to that. Your people have taken root inside us — and rotted us from within.
After stopping Nightfall from firing by shooting more conduits, the Guardian defeats Premier Lume. Eclipse energy erupts from his chest.
  • Premier Lume: [yells]
As Lume clutches his chest, he turns from the Guardian and transmats away.
  • Drifter: You've got 'em on the ropes! Here until you need me, Blue. You got my number?
  • Blue: I got your number. Got you on speed dial. And, uh, thanks. Thank you. Y'know, for apologizing.
The Guardian accesses a console to sets Lume's flagship on a collision course with Nightfall Station.
  • Blue: All right. Buckle up, ace. Sending you the Sparrow now!

(Cutscene begins)

The Guardian jumps off the Zagan Gloriosus and boards a Falcon and transmats in. They fly it to Nightfall Station.

(Cutscene ends)

Nightfall Station
  • Blue: It's a straight shot to the weapon core at the end of the trench.
  • Premier Lume: You won this moment, Weapon. Enjoy your triumph. Glory delayed will be twice the sweeter when harvested. You will fall the next time we meet.
The Guardian races down the trench towards the weapon core. As they get closer, a Imperium Shuttle flies overhead and begins dropping Stasis to block their path.
  • Aunor: Stasis walls ahead — where are those coming from?
  • Drifter: That's Bael above! Keep it movin' — I'll deal with him.
  • Blue: No! Stay in orbit. If you get hit, we're all dead.
The Guardian makes it to the weapon core.
  • Blue: Coolant anchors keep the Nightfall weapon stable. Blow 'em up! No weapon, no power. That'll put those Nine in one helluva bind. Right, Drifter?
  • Drifter: [Static] Blue? Blue!!
  • Blue: I'm here, D! Still with ya!
The Guardian destroys three Stasis crystals and destabilizes Nightfall's core.
  • Aunor: Eclipse energy is spiking — the weapon is preparing to fire! Blue, can you get through to the Drifter?
  • Blue: No. Nothing. It's OK. He'll be there.
The Guardian turns and makes their escape.
  • Blue: There's our exit, ace. Let's go!

(Cutscene begins)

The Guardian successfully escapes the station. Blue transmats next to them.
  • Blue: Hang tight, hero. Ah, dammit! I'm reading multiple energy signatures.
Three Imperium Shuttles, one piloted by Dredgen Bael, head towards them. The Guardian attempts to start the Falcon as the lead Shuttle fires. They transmat onto the Drifter's jumpship before the Shuttle's laser blast hits them.
  • Drifter: Hope you're comfy in the trunk, Guardian. Only room for me and Blue up here. Couldn't let you hog all the glory.
The three shuttles see Drifter's jumpship flying towards the Zagan Gloriosus.
  • Bael: Is the weapon ready?
  • Premier Lume: Energy levels are fluctuating—
  • Bael: Will it fire?
  • Premier Lume: Yes, Lord Bael.
A image on a monitor shows Nightfall Station aiming at the Traveler and the Last City.
  • Bael: Then the Vanguard had its chance. Now we liberate the Last City.
The three shuttles pursue the Drifter's jumpship, which manages to evade their laser fire.
The four ships fly through wreckage around the Zagan Gloriosus.
Drifter: [gasps] evades Bael and the Threshers.
  • Drifter: [grunts] You don’t have to do this, kid.
  • Bael: You've shown me that I do. I'll walk this path alone.
Bael locks onto Drifter's jumpship, but the other two shuttles are shot down by the Derelict, piloted by Aunor, Eris and Eido. Bael attempts to fire on Drifter's ship, but the Derelict blocks his aim.
  • Eris Morn: We have you. Take him.
The Drifter reverses the jumpship and shoots down Bael's ship. Eido briefly jumps up in celebration before looking at Eris and Aunor.
  • Eido: [grunts]
  • Drifter: [breath]
The Derelict, Drifter's jumpship and a third ship in the distance jump before Nightfall's destablized core explodes, destroying the station.
  • Drifter: Thanks, fireteam—
  • Aunor: Don't thank us yet. The Vanguard wants to talk.
  • Drifter: [exhales deeply]

(Cutscene ends)

(Cutscene begins)

In Tharsis Cantina, the Drifter and Eris stand by the counter as a Harpy from Tharsis Reformation floats by with a tray of drinks. Drifter is looking at Aunor, Eido and the Guardian standing around a table with drinks.
  • Eris Morn: The Vanguard have dropped all charges against you. But there's still a debt to pay.
  • Drifter: Yeah. With them too. I know I played it reckless, but cozying up to Bael was the best way to protect the crew. Kinda plan that makes sense when it's just me on my own… Less so when there's other folks… When there's you.
The Drifter turns to look at Eris, who does the same.
  • Eris Morn: You were never at risk of losing yourself the Nine.
  • Drifter: I know.
  • Eris Morn: Nevertheless, Dredgen Bael remains on the loose. Dark Guardian cells across the system are resurgent.
  • Drifter: Yeah, yeah. Dredgen Vale's still out there too. There'll be a reckoning when new meets old, the system caught in between.
  • Eris Morn: And what will you do about it?
  • Drifter: I'm not sure what our hero's thinking these days, but the Vanguard and I are done. I'm lucky they're letting me keep Gambit.
The Drifter looks to Blue, who is at the table with the rest of the crew.
  • Drifter: Blue and I… had a heart-to-heart. Pretty much ordered me to get out there and clean up my own mess… for once. So, I reckon I'll go hunt me some Dredgens. And deal with VI and the Nine as they come.
  • Eris Morn: A worthy pursuit… Here. To replace what you lost.
Eris ties a new item around Drifter's neck; a small gold item with the Renegades icon and Soulfire behind it.
  • Eris Morn: A token to remind you that wherever you are… you have a home to come back to. And a fireteam to welcome you.
The Drifter and Eris kiss. Eido, Aunor, Blue and the Guardian all notice. After they finish kissing, Eris and Drifter raise their glasses, and the rest of the crew do the same.
