Plasteel Plating is gained by dismantling Uncommon, Rare, or Legendary Armor and is used to upgrade armor that has the ability to be upgraded. Dismantling less common pieces of armor usually gives you more Plasteel Plating. (Ex. Dismantling a Rare Helmet could give you 3 Plasteel Plating, while dismantling an Uncommon Helmet will give you only one piece of Plasteel Plating) Plasteel Plating is usually required to upgrade the defense of a piece of armor.
