Challenge of the Elders is the newest difficulty of Prison of Elders added with the April Update.
Challenge of the Elders is the highest difficulty of the Prison of Elders 3-player matchmade activity, added with the April Update during Year 2 of Destiny.

Overview
Overview
Instead of the usual five rounds (four waves of regular enemies plus a boss round), this game mode will three rounds of bosses with special abilities. These bosses rotate each week.
The Challenge of the Elders is a 320 Light version of the Prison of Elders, and consists of 3 boss rounds. Each boss is the same as encountered in the Level 28 and Level 41 Prison of Elders, though most have a new mechanic. Unlike the regular Prison of Elders, which has random modifiers each round, the Challenge of the Elders will have a single modifier for the whole activity. Both the modifier and the bosses are randomized each weekly reset.

Pilot Servitor
Access to the Challenge of the Elders is only granted to Guardians who possess the Elders' Sigil, which can be purchased from Variks, the Loyal in the Vestian Outpost for 100 Glimmer. The Sigil states what regular modifier is active that week, as well as what type of attack will grant bonus points upon defeating an enemy. It also tracks the player's weekly high score in a single Challenge run, and the player's weekly accumulated score (that is, the total number of points from all Challenge runs that week).
The Pilot Servitor can now teleport around the arena and will fire a barrage of bouncing Shock Grenades.

Wretched Knight
Bosses
The Wretched Knight now has the ability to summon floating Taken mines that will spawn in the outskirts of the arena. This is supposedly to get players to engage him in a more direct manner.

Rewards
The Overmind Minotaur is capable of capturing Guardians in detainment bubbles. They must be quickly destroyed or anyone inside will be killed via suppression field.
Upon completion of the final round, the activity will end, and access to the Crystal Barrow will not be granted. Instead, the rewards for completing the activity will be directly granted to the player. In addition to usual post-match rewards, the player can acquire from Variks a random Queen's Wrath-themed Legendary weapon for completing a Challenge of the Elders activity with a high score of 30,000 or more, and a random Fallen-themed armour piece for accummulating a total score of 90,000 in a single week. The Challenge of the Elders is also the only source of the Consumed Shell along with the Year 2 versions of the Lord of Wolves, Dreg's Promise, and Queenbreakers' Bow. The rewards are as follows:

Challenge of the Elders is the highest difficulty of the Prison of Elders 3-player matchmade activity, added with the April Update during Year 2 of Destiny.

Overview[edit]

The Challenge of the Elders is a 320 Light version of the Prison of Elders, and consists of 3 boss rounds. Each boss is the same as encountered in the Level 28 and Level 41 Prison of Elders, though most have a new mechanic. Unlike the regular Prison of Elders, which has random modifiers each round, the Challenge of the Elders will have a single modifier for the whole activity. Both the modifier and the bosses are randomized each weekly reset.
