Sol System
| Image | Celestial Body | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Sol | Sol is the native star of the system. | |
| Mercury | Mercury was transformed into a garden world by the Traveler. During the Golden Age, human colonies were created together with Ishtar and Seraph facilities. During the Collapse, the Vex converted the planet into a machine world, turning its core into the Infinite Forest. During Ghaul's War, the Red Legion Cabal built several bases across Mercury. After the Witness' War a new Vex collective interested in the Light appeared on Mercury. | |
| Neomuna | Neomuna is a great city founded by humans that escaped the Collapse on Neptune. It developed on its own, creating the CloudArk and other advanced technology, but has continued to remain hidden through the centuries. After the Witness's War, Neomuna was moved to Mercury's orbit. | |
| Venus | Venus was transformed into a garden world by the Traveler. During the Golden Age, human colonies were created together with Ishtar facilities, in particular the Ishtar Academy; humanity's greatest center of learning. During the Collapse, the Vex worked to convert the planet into a machine world from the Vault of Glass at its core. Eliksni of House Winter made their lairs on Venus. During Ghaul's War, the Red Legion Cabal built several bases across Venus. After the Witness' War, Eliksni of House Light settled on Venus. | |
| Deep Crypt | The Deep Crypt is a great facility built by humans on Europa during the Golden Age. It was the main structure where Exo were created and related technology was researched and produced. After the Collapse and the Tyrant going dormant, the Crypt has continued to remain hidden through the centuries. During Eramis' War, Eliksni of House Salvation settled on Europa and started pillaging and studying the facility to replicate Exo technology for themselves. After the Witness' War, the Crypt was moved to Venus' orbit. | |
| Earth | Earth is the home world of the Human species. During the Golden Age, humans built great and beautiful cities and orbital stations. During the Collapse the majority of humans perished and the only safe settlement left is the Last City. The Traveler remained in orbit over the planet and from its sacrifice Ghosts were created and Guardians brought back to life. Eliksni of House Devils made their lairs on Earth. Later, Crota Hive from Luna sent Seeder Ships to invade the planet and Oryx deployed more of his Hive and Taken that started to dig beneath the surface. During Ghaul's War, the Red Legion Cabal built several bases across Earth. The Traveler Light's influence alway protected Earth from Vex or Hive attacks through the Network or Ascendant Realm. | |
| Pale Heart | The Pale Heart is a paracausal domain filled with Light and created by the memories within the Traveler after the Witness entered its core. The Pyramid Monolith inserted at the centre of the landscape continues to spread Darkness and produce Dread. Taken, Scorn, Hive and Vex are able to find their way inside this realm through the Ascendant Plane while Guardians can enter it from the portal open for them on the Traveler's shell. | |
| Luna | Luna is Earth's natural satellite. During the Golden Age, human colonies were created as supply hubs for the rest of the inner system together with Seraph facilities. During the Collapse, the Hive built a great fortress and network of tunnels beneath its surface, turning its core into Crota's throne. After Ghaul's War, Savathûn manipulated the Hive on Luna to steal the Light and anchor her throne on the moon. | |
| Savathûn Throne | The Throne is Savathûn's domain in the Ascendant Realm that she reforged using the Light. It is the main fortress of the Lucent Hive and the home of their Hive Lightbearers. It serves as the place where Savathûn and her court can conduct her experiments and hide her secrets. She managed to manipulate the Hive on Luna to open a portal for her throne on the moon but, before the Witness' War, a Pyramid infiltrated her Court through the Ascendant Realm and deployed Dread and Taken to invade it and punish Savathûn. | |
| Mars | Mars was transformed into a garden world by the Traveler. During the Golden Age, great human colonies were created together with Seraph facilities, in particular the BrayTech Futurescape; the Tyrant's main structure. During the Collapse, the Vex worked to convert the planet into a machine world from the Black Garden at its core. Cabal legions made their bases on Mars. During Ghaul's War, the Red Legion Cabal built several bases across Mars. After the Witness' War, Cabal of Torobatl settled on Mars. | |
| Seraph Station | The Seraph Station is a great installation created by the humans on Mars during the Golden Age. It's the main core of the Tyrant and the hub that links all the Seraph facilities, orbital stations, satellites and military installations across the system. During the Collapse, the Tyrant went dormant and has continued to remain hidden through the centuries. After the Witness's War, the Station was moved to Mars' orbit. | |
| Reef Tangled Shore |
The Asteroid Belt is ring of many irregularly shaped asteroids located between the orbits of Jupiter and Mars. During the Golden Age, small human colonies were created as mining and trade hubs for the rest of the system. After the Collapse, the Awoken led by Mara Sov that left the Distributary made their settlements on the field of debris that became known as the Reef and on asteroids such as Vesta, Pallas, Iris and Hygiea. After the conflicts against Skolas, Oryx and Ghaul the majority of the Asteroid Belt turned into a lawless frontier, with the field of debris that became known as the Tangled Shore becoming the refuge of renegade Eliksni, Cabal mercenaries and Hive heretics. After the Scorn's Offensive they Dark Eliksni made their lairs on many asteorids and prisoners that escaped from the Prison of Elders filled the ranks of the criminal factions lurking across the Asteroid Belt. | |
| Prison of Elders | The Prison of Elders is a great detention facility created by the Awoken after the Reef Wars to imprison Eliksni of House Wolves that refused to submit and rebels. It suffered breaches during the conflicts against Skolas, Oryx, Ghauls and the Scorn, which led to the escape of many prisoners and great destruction across the facility. With the return of the Witness the prison was moved closer to Ceres' orbit and rebuilt to accommodate prisoners with paracausal abilities. | |
| Ceres | Ceres the largest object in the Asteroid Belt. During the Golden Age, human colonies were created as supply hubs for the rest of the outer system. During the Collapse, the Awoken led by Mara Sov that left the Distributary made their first settlement on Ceres and built the watchtower that leads to their hidden Dreaming City. House Wolves attacked the Awoken city during the Reef Wars and later the Hive of Crota attempted to take control of the Ascendant Plane around it. During Oryx's War, his Hive invaded Ceres with hundreds of Seeder Ships, forcing the Awoken to evacuate to other settlements on the Asteroid Belt. | |
| Dreaming City | The Dreaming City is the greatest Awoken city founded by Awoken led by Mara Sov that left the Distributary after the Collapse. It developed on its own, safeguarding Riven, the last Ahamkara, and other advanced paracausal technology but has continued to remain hidden through the centuries. It is also the location of Eleusinia; Mara Sov's throne in the Ascendant Realm. After Oryx's War the city was infiltrated by his Hive and Taken and later trapped in a corrupted loop by Savathun's plots. After the Witness' War, the Awoken continued to defend the Dreaming City that exists in the Ascendant Realm to prevent Hive, Scorn, Psions, Taken and Dread from infiltrating inside the inner system through the Ley Lines. | |
| Eternity | Eternity is the paradimensional domain created by the Nine using dark matter in an attempt to replicate the Ascendant Realm. Its an artificial space that generally appears as a near-featureless expanse of white sand under a deep blue sky. The Nine can manipulate it to create solid structures with geometric shapes made from white stone or polished metals or imitations of lifeforms resembling the Taken. After Savathûn's War the domain was used to attempt to understand the paracausal powers of Light and Darkness through the Guardians and Dread in the form of trials and challenges. | |
| Jupiter | Jupiter is a gas giant with many orbiting moons. During the Golden Age, many human colonies were created on the Jovian moons together with Ishtar and Seraph facilities. After the conflicts against Skolas, Oryx and Ghauls, Eliksni, Hive and Cabal made lairs, fortresses and bases on Jupiter's moons to launch attacks across the system. After the Witness' War the different factions consolidated and managed to turn the major moons into their strongholds. | |
| Io | Io was transformed into a garden world by the Traveler. During the Golden Age, human colonies were created together with Ishtar and Seraph facilities. During the Collapse, the Vex worked to convert the moon into a machine world from the Pyramidion at its core. During Ghaul's War, the Red Legion Cabal built several bases across Io and the Taken of Quria attempted to seize control of the local Collective. After the Witness' War, Quria returned and the Sol Divisive continue to work to convert Io into their new stronghold. Quria managed to reconnect the Black Garden on the material realm inside the moon. | |
| Black Garden | The Black Garden is the paradimensional domain created by the Vex through the power of the Darkness in an attempt to replicate the Ascendant Realm. Its an artificial space that generally appears as an expanse of vegetation growing between channels of stone and metal under a dark green sky. The Vex inhabiting the Garden are infused by the Darkness filling it, their frames are covered by moss and exhibit uncommon and almost religious behavior. After the Guardians destroyed the Black Heart at its core, the Garden was disconnected from the material plane on Mars and left in a limbo and many Vex were turned into Taken by the Witness. After the Witness's War, Quria managed to recreate the Black Heart to create new Taken Vex and the Garden was recalled back on Io. | |
| Europa | Europa is a moon that wasn't transformed by the Traveler. During the Golden Age, human colonies were created together with Seraph facilities despite the harsh natural conditions. The Deep Crypt was build to create and experiment on the Exo. During the Collapse, the Vex remained dormant through the efforts of the Bray scientists and the Tyrant. After Gaul's War, Eliksni of House Salvation settled on Europa attracted by the first Pyramid to reach the system. The Eliksni gained the power of Darkness and pillaged the human ruins to create a new empire under Eramis' leadership. After the Witness' War, the moon remains a stronghold of House Salvation and continues to attract Eliksni seduced by the Darkness. | |
| Riis-Reborn | Riis Reborn is a great Eliksni city build over the ruins of a human colony on Europa. During Erami's War its sections were moved to surround the Pyamid left dormant on the moon. The Eliksni inhabiting Riis continue to pillage and experiment on human technology from the Golden Age like the Tyrant weapons, Siva and Exo while also studying the technology of the Pyramid in an attempt to further advance their Darkness power. After the Guardians defeated House Salvation during Eramis' War the Eliskni city was left in disarray and those that died were turned into Scorn by the Witness. After the Witness's War, Eramis managed to access the Pyramid on the moon to create new Scorn and Riis became a stronghold of House Salvation again. | |
| Ganymede | Ganymede was transformed into a garden world by the Traveler. During the Golden Age, human colonies were created together with Seraph facilities. During the Collapse, the Vex worked to convert the moon into a machine world from the Pyramidion at its core. During Ghaul's War, the Red Legion Cabal built several bases across Ganymede and Eliksni of House Dusk attempted to pillage from both factions. During Calus' War, the Shadow Legion expanded their operations on the moon. After the Guardians defeated the Emperor after Calus' War, the Cabal were left in disarray and many were turned into Dread by the Witness. After the Witness' War, the moon remains a stronghold of the Shadow Legion and continues to attract Cabal seduced by the Darkness. | |
| Leviathan | The Leviathan is the Shadow Legion flagship. It was the palace of Calus, modified with Pyramid technology, but after his defeat Otzot seized control of the Leviathan and turned it into her operational base. It serves as the place where Shadow Legion Psions commune with the Darkness and mass-produced their cloned soldiers. After the Witness' War, Otzot managed to obtain the power to create new Dread from the Pyramid technology. | |
| Callisto | Callisto was transformed into a garden world by the Traveler. During the Golden Age, human colonies were created together with Ishtar and Seraph facilities. After Oryx's War, some Hive settled on the moon and began dugging tunnels under its surface. During Ghaul's War, Savathûn's Hive spread on Callisto but after Eramis' War, Xivu Arath's Hive conquered the moon. After the Guardians pushed back Xivu Arath's Horde after Savathûn's War the Hive were left in disarray and many Hive were turned into Taken by the Witness. After the Witness' War, Callisto became a stronghold of Xivu Arath, that had managed to connect her Throne to the moon. | |
| Xivu Arath Throne | The Throne is Xivu Arath's domain in the Ascendant Realm. It is the main fortress of the Horde and the home of their Hive Wrathborn. It serves as the place where Xivu Arath and her generals can conduct her duels and test her weapons. She managed to conquer the Hive on Callisto and anchor her throne on the moon. After the Witness' War, Xivu Arath managed to obtain the power to create new Taken from her ascendant domain. | |
| Saturn | Saturn is a gas giant with many orbiting moons. During the Golden Age, a few human colonies were created on Saturn's moons. During the Collapse and the later conflicts the moons were spared from major battles. After the Witness' War, Eliksni, Hive and Cabal and Vex aligned with the Darkness attempted to turn the major moons into their stronghold and continue to fight each other for control. | |
| Uranus | Uranus is a gas giant. | |
| Neptune | Neptune is an ice giant. | |
| Triton | Triton is the largest moon of Neptune. After Calus's War, Pyramids of the Witness passed through the Kuiper Belt and some remained stationed over the outer planets deploying Dread and Taken. After the Witness's War and its defeat, a powerful, Darkness entity was freed and took control of the main Pyramid and the forces and technology present inside it. The dormant flagship started to convert Triton into a Dread stronghold, creating a dark city. | |
| Essence | Essence is the largest Pyramid of the Witness. After Calus's War, the Traveler hit the flagship with its Light, disabling the Pyramid and leading to the growth of mysterious plants born from the interaction of Light and Darkness. After the Witness's War and its defeat, a powerful, Darkness entity was freed and took control of the main Pyramid and the forces and technology present inside it. The dormant flagship was used to create new Dread and create a dark city on Triton. |

Discovery on Essence Tree of Silver Wings (Essence) Following an incursion inside a terraformed Pyramid once inhabited by the Witness, a team of Guardians discovered that the terraforming beam of Light the Traveler used against the Witness had grown a Tree of Silver Wings deep within the ship. Its roots started to grow all over the Pyramid, changing and terraforming it. When the guardians faced Nezarec it had grown up to form a fully shaped Tree.
The Sanctified Mind is one of the two Sol Inherent minds of the Sol Divisive who had communed with the Witness when the Black Fleet came to the Black Garden and left a Pyramid Scale to propagate the environment with Darkness; a process which involved harvesting a lake full of Vex radiolarian fluid for them to reap its paracausal power and grow. Much like the Consecrated Mind, Sol Inherent before it, the Sanctified Mind has been warped by exposure to the Darkness-aligned resonance of the Pyramids. Instead of the brass-like metal of ordinary Vex, much of its chassis resembles more closely the rough stone used in Vex architecture (and indeed becomes an inanimate stone statue when defeated), and sprouts glowing blue tentacles which shifts to an orange hue at times. Its primary photoreceptors appear to be non-functional, and instead it sports spherical masses in one shoulder and one thigh that each contain a glowing red photoreceptor.
When the Guardians entered into the Black Garden to intercept the source of a signal emanating from the Unknown Artifact, the Sol Divisive sent its legions of Vex to keep the Guardians from disrupting the Sanctified Mind. Unfortunately, the Mind would be defeated, losing its paracausal power and becoming petrified by the Guardians as they located the signal which derived from a veiled statue, similar to the one found in the Pyramid on Luna in the mission Beyond.
