Chimeras are Taken entities that appear to be former Fallen Servitors fused with living flesh. They appear in the Dreaming City and Gambit.

Abilities

Chimeras generally possess variations of the same abilities Servitors use, such as an eye blast, melee and flight. They also have two new powers. The first launches a burst of three to four Axion Darts like Taken Centurions, only the Darts are larger. The second has them spawn numerous miniature Taken Blights, either a single one or up to four at a time, that shield the Chimera and makes them immune to damage until the Blights are destroyed.

They do not possess the ability to teleport or buff nearby enemies like regular Servitors, with the exceptions of Inomina in the Blind Well who can teleport, and the Ascendant Primeval Servitor in Gambit whose Blights can make other Primevals immune at the same time as itself.

Trivia

  • The term "Chimera" refers to a beast from Greek mythology, which had the head of a lion, the body of a goat and tail of a serpent. The term is also used in biology, to refer to an organism containing cells with different DNA. Both meanings are relevant in describing the Chimera in Destiny, as it appears to be a monstrous hybrid of multiple different types of being.
