Optios are secondary field commanders first conceptualized and utilized heavily by the Neon Wraiths, serving as a secondary commander and advisor to Centurions, and primarily oversee the deployment of the Cabal's more advanced mechanical weaponry.

Overview

The technocratic hierarchy of the Neon Wraiths have often seen Cabal mechanics and programers on the same level as their seasoned military elite, garnering similar power and respect amongst their ranks, much to each other's initial chagrin. However, as the Neon Wraiths soon produced more mechanical marvels compared to the traditional weapons much of the legions understand, the need for soldiers that understand these new technologies, in and out, soon became a necessity. As such, these mechanics and programers soon were ran through tactical crash courses and thoroughly retrained in warfare, soon finding themselves as advisors and enforcers for Centurions, with their expertise on all technological matters, as well as their desire to prove themselves through brutal but efficient violence, swiftly earning the respect of their superiors.

Gameplay

In essence, an Optio is simply a less armored and, on lower difficulties, shieldless version of a Centurion. However, the strength of the Optio instead lies in its ability to deploy a Scorpius and infinitely develop Accipiter Drones to support it and its allies. The Optio will always be supported by two Accipiter Drones even before they are properly in battle and, should one be destroyed and a safe opportunity arise, can replenish any losses in their allies. If an Optio can find an entrenched position with a good view of the battlefield, they can also place down a Scorpius turret in front of them to aid them and their allies, creating another source of sheer firepower to pin down their opponents. If an opponent pushes an Optio, they may swipe at them with an Sword.
