The Valkyrie is an explosive javelin designed and manufactured by Rasputin as a weapon for Guardian forces. It is a devastating weapon, with enough power to slay gods.

Gameplay[edit]

The Valkyrie is a powerful Relic weapon encountered in various activities from the Warmind expansion. Like other relics, picking it up makes the player's perspective move to third person. The "fire" button lets the player throw the javelin, which slightly homes in on targets and explodes on impact, dealing devastating Solar damage. Using the "melee" button makes the player dive to the ground, releasing a powerful shockwave on impact. Grenades can still be used, but activating a Super or a Class Ability will drop the weapon.

The Valkyrie is used in various points in the expansion's story, most notably during the fight against Xol in the Will of the Thousands Mission and Strike[1], where it is the quickest way to deal with the Worm God. Rasputin also provides Valkyries during the Escalation Protocol[2] activity and the Warsat Down Public Event[3]. During Season of the Worthy, the Valkyrie could be used to defend the Seraph Towers.[4]

Trivia[edit]

  • The Valkyrie javelin is named after the same figures in Norse mythology. A valkyrie (/vælˈkɪəri, -ˈkaɪri, vɑːl-, ˈvælkəri/; from Old Norse valkyrja "chooser of the slain") is one of a host of female figures who choose those who may die in battle and those who may live. Selecting among half of those who die in battle, the valkyries bring their chosen to the afterlife hall of the slain, Valhalla.
