He senses my intent faster than I can act on it, turning his head in warning as I extend my hand.

"I don't want to pummel you in this cave…" he says. "Behave yourself."

"If you don't want to stare at this stone slab for another ten minutes," I answer, anxiously approaching him from behind and nearly pushing my raised index finger into the back of his head. "One hour—we only have one hour before the next fold of the same frequency. If we miss that window, who knows how long we'll have to wait to go back."

He responds with something of a nonchalant sound, then crouches in front of that stone slab.

"Fine, do whatever you want. I'll go back myself." I mumble a string of curses as I shift the spotlight from my left hand to my right. "Now move it and let me go around."

"Who told you there's a passage behind this?" The stare he gives me is a strange one. I'm stunned for a moment, then without thinking, I shine the spotlight on the pitch-black cave walls surrounding us. "But there's… There's no other way out."

He finally moves, shifting a few steps in front of the stone slab to make space for me.

"This is the last room."

Despite how stupid and embarrassing it feels, I approach the slab and kneel before it like him.

"What's it say?" I ask.

Nameless Where-liver, if you have come here,
