Declassification is a side quest in The Edge of Fate expansion unlocked after completing the Quarantine story mission. In it, The Guardian, Ikora Rey and Lodi investigate Void signatures near the reactor in The Stacks.

Steps[edit]

"And my vanquisher will read that book, seeking the weapon, and they will come to understand me, where I have been and where I was going."
The following is a verbatim transcription of an official document for archival reasons. As the original content is transcribed word-for-word, any possible discrepancies and/or errors are included.
  • Lodi: This briefcase is from where I worked. It must have been pulled in with me.
  • Ikora: Something nearby reads similarly to the singularity on Kepler. Not enough to threaten the planetoid, but enough to warrant intervention. Guardian, we need to find each one and eliminate it.

Step 1[edit]

Void signals indicate the locations of the microscopic singularities. Find and destroy them.

  • Microscopic singularities destroyed

Microscopic singularities appearing on Kepler don't yet present a threat to the planetoid—but they very well could without intervention. Track them down, find the causes, and clean up the damage.

  • Ghost: Are these what was in the briefcase? They look like Axion Bolts. I didn't know this tech existed prior to the Golden Age.
  • Lodi: Good. What was intended to be forgotten, was.

Step 2[edit]

The singularities are being caused by axion bolts. Destroy them to prevent further singularity development.

  • Axion bolts destroyed

The axion bolts seem to have originated long, long ago, drawn here by ripples of the Nine's interference. Regardless, they need to be dealt with.

  • Ikora: Lodi. Can you tell me more about where you and… where you both worked?
  • Lodi: I can. We were well acquainted. Warming up to pals. The organization we worked for, the Department of External Observations—I was a linguist, specializing in alien translation. Your predecessor was a mathematician. The Department's goal was to make friends with whoever was out there… take humanity to the stars. Her math was gonna get us there.
The Guardian finds a second briefcase.
  • Lodi: Looks like a lot of objects fell through with me. Found a nameplate from my desk: Agent Louis Yero.
  • Ikora: Lodi was a chosen name?
  • Lodi:I was born in Lodi, Wisconsin—got the nickname during my bachelor's and never had the heart to tell people to stop.
  • Ikora: Heh… Wisconsin. Was it beautiful here?
  • Lodi: It was beautiful because it was Wisconsin.

Step 3[edit]

Another axion-bolt-created singularity remains to be destroyed.

  • Axiom bolts destroyed

There are still more axion bolts to find. Follow the readings and close in on their location before they can cause more damage.

  • Ikora: Lodi, you mentioned my… predecessor was a mathematician. Seems she and I shared interests. What did she work on?
  • Lodi: Officially, aeronautics. Unofficially, what we call "Project Graviton". Our scientists discovered technology that allows us to punch small holes through spacetime.
  • Ikora: She sounds like someone I'd like to know. Or maybe already do.
  • Lodi: The only thing keeping us from turning to spaghetti was her math. She was incredible.
The Guardian finds a third briefcase.
  • Ghost: One more bolt. Let's nip it in the bud before it turns into a wormhole.

Step 4[edit]

One final set of readings remains. Track them down.

  • Final axiom bolt located

The microscopic singularities seem to be largely contained, but the cleanup of the debris misplaced in time remains.

  • Ikora: Louis… we've been friends in two lifetimes.
  • Lodi: And both times I had to bend over backwards for you to take me seriously.
  • Ikora: Oh please. I'm not that judgmental.
  • Lodi: You thought I was made by robots.
The Guardian locates a piece of wreckage labeled "Ares One".
  • Ghost: It's Ares One! This was the ship that first met the Traveler on Mars. It must have slipped through time, too.
  • Ikora: Lodi, this was the ship that enabled first contact.
  • Lodi: Wait, wait, wait. THIS ship?! Made first contact?! When?!
  • Ikora: Ares One greeting the Traveler was the beginning of the Golden Age. It must have been after your time.
  • Lodi: The naming pattern follows how the Department named all our test vessels—are—are you telling me we actually did it? We made first contact?! Holy cats, we did it! YES! We made first contact!
The Guardian scans the Ares One wreckage.
  • Ghost: Hold that victory lap. I'm picking up a Vex signal headed toward us. Guardian, protect that history!

Step 5[edit]

Defend the Ares One against the encroaching Vex.

  • Shuttle protected

Vex signals have arrived rapidly. Defend the Ares One from their weapons.

  • Ikora: You won't tell me anything about her unless I ask first?
  • Lodi: Naturally. I'm good at my work.
  • Ikora: I know I told you I didn't need to know about her, but she deserves to be known. What was she like?
  • Lodi: She was amazing. Loyal to a fault once she decided she liked you. Warmed up to me… when I got Logistics to import the nice chalk from Japan. Smart as all hell, too. Everyone turned to her for help. Before I was abducted, she was doing proofs for a gun that could fire tears in spacetime.
  • Ikora: Lodi… I know that gun.
