The Infinite Forest is a location accessible on Mercury. It is a simulation of the universe which the Vex created to plan their actions in reality.[1]

Overview

Several months after the death of Dominus Ghaul and the turning of the tide in the Red War, Vex activity on Mercury dramatically increased. Apparently, the reawakening of the Traveler and the wave of of Light it unleashed was an event the Vex had anticipated, and now that it had come to pass, the Vex had advanced to a new phase of their plans.[1] Guardian forces were dispatched to the Infinite Forest by Ikora Rey, in a bid to find Osiris and stop the Vex from merging with time.[2]

The Forest is guarded by both Precursors and Descendants. Every time a Guardian enters the gateway to Forest, they enter the simulated universe at a different point in time, and can witness Mercury in the past, the present, and a grim potential future where the Sun has died and the Vex have triumphed.[1]
