Hezen, the Father of All Minds is an extremely ancient Vex program of mysterious origin and nature. It seeks the forming of a loop within history to ensure the Vex are eternal by making its collective of the Forgotten Collective of Descendants become the first ever Vex and would go on to become the Precursors.

Biography[edit]

Origination in Completion[edit]

The origins of Hezen are paradoxical in nature, its first ever reference in our time was that of its name being invoked by the gear from the Vault of Glass Raid, along with the strange title of the Hezen Lords. Though what this Hezen may have been was unknown to Guardians. In truth, Hezen's existence predated even this cycle of the Flower game, as it was the Vex Mind that, in the previous cycle, commanded the final battle against the Numeric Usurper and its coalition. The true conclusion of this final battle is not known, only that black befell all of Creation. After endless time that was not time passed, Hezen detected a tear within the darkness, a Light. This tear allowed it and its Vex to pour into this new game. It'd then detect a wound in the then-fledgling Vex Network, it'd reach out its arms and with but one twitch of its muscles, ripped open the tear into Oryx, the Taken King's High War. Hezen would bleed and the Vex would pour from its chassis into the Ascendant Realm. A new game had begun.

With the Vex's expulsion from the High War and Hezen's premier strategizing Mind against the Hive, Quria, Blade Transform, Taken, Hezen would begin to strategize. It'd use this time and Oryx's gift of his son for the Vex to sharpen their blades upon as the crux of its new strategy to again win this game.

The War of the Pits[edit]

Crota and his brood would wage war across the Vex Network in a war that'd be known as the War of the Pits. The war between Crota and Hezen would be so brutal on the Network that it would frequently crash and shatter, splintering open and spilling Vex and timelost Hive across all of history, with one notable example being what billions of years later would become a human-observed star system in the 2010's known as 2082 Volantis. Another, more important wound, would be that of the wound that would "kill" Hezen, having taken place within a wound in spacetime that folded far past Venus, far future Mars, and the present Vex Network known as the Kernel into a single narthex of spacetime. Here Crota would strike down Hezen's chassis and forever splinter its conscious across all Vex within the Network across all time.

Completion in Origination[edit]

However, this narthex would prove fertile ground for a timelost system of Vex code, denied its purpose in an existence of failure trillions of years long. This code was tasked with finding a way to defeat the Vex so that, should it be possible, that it may be carved out before a foe strong enough could properly exploit this weakness. This code, dubbed Ixion by Hezen in a time long since passed long since far from now, would find Hezen's bubbling remains and use it and the narthex of spacetime to begin forming an immortal structure that existed outside of time. A fragile place that if distorted or ruined in any way may bring all of Creation down upon itself as it once did in the last cycle. Hezen's corpse and tomb grew and expanded across this pocket of non-existence. Eventually, Ixion was no more, Hezen was no more. There was only a fragile and ever-reflecting Vault of Glass and its master at its helm, Atheon, Time's Conflux. Atheon would carve from Hezen's remains the power to dictate Creation and who should live within it, ever enchanted and given physical weaponry from learning the Deathsong from Crota's sisters from its time battling them within the High War, along with Crota's personal advisor and attendant, Ir Yût, the Deathsinger, during the War of the Pits. It would implant this power into partially Taken Harpies that retained free will that were gifted to it from one Quria, Blade Transform in an attempt to "surprise" its Master. It would then also carve out Hezen's countless eyes and their shining warm-colored glow would be placed across the Vault to relay to Atheon any and all they saw and if given the time to complete their refrain, may channel the Vault's power once again. Atheon dubbed these programs as Oracles, so they may tell the future that is certain, rather than the endless reflections of the Vault being but simulations and possibilities.

Hezen's master plan had been achieved, it was immortal. The Vex were immortal. Even once Ixion/Atheon was laid low and the Vault went empty, picked clean by Guardians, Fallen, its ancient enemy in Oryx's Taken, and more, it still had won. All it needed to do now was to wait for the long since over War of the Pits to begin and help Ixion begin its evolution into Atheon and its into the Vault, along with the loop closing on the Vex, forevermore granting them everlasting existence.

War Over VII[edit]

Far in the future of present day, above Uranus, a rogue Nessian Schism Vex Goblin could come across a tear in spacetime into the Vex Network. The tear would lead into the Network at the time of the War of the Pits, with Hezen noticing the little Goblin and its defiant desire for freedom, yet defiant nature of preferring the Vex as a collective mind, and named it System-34, the Defiant Pattern. This tear would also be how Crota would become aware of Earth and The Traveler's new resting place. Hezen would reach out its arms and with but one twitch of its muscles, ripped open the tear into present day Uranus. Hezen would then bleed and the Vex would pour from its chassis into the planet. The new game was coming to an end.

Hezen would begin terraforming Uranus and as thanks for revealing this tear, allowed System-34 into the Vex Network to seek ways to defeat Hezen and its plans, so that it may address these concerns. As hard as System-34 tried, it never would find a weakness in Hezen's plans and thoughts. Once the events of the Rise of the Imperium began and VII, VIII, and VI of the Nine had dilated time to give the Barant Imperium time to develop their tecnology, VII itself did so as well in private on the surface of Uranus in the past twelve years, channeling more power than ever to allow for billions or even trillions of years to take place on it within the comparatively small time frame. This allowed the war between Crota and Hezen to wage in the Network meanwhile it could grow its forces and experiment to its mind's content on Uranus. This time dilation also affect those in the Sol System, having them not pay Uranus mind while the War against the Witness waged on Neptune or the skirmishes against Xivu Arath, God of War happened across the bodies orbiting Saturn and Jupiter.

With the War of the Pits reaching its end in Hezen's time within the Vex Network, it now knows it must achieve its goal of setting everything it needs to so that its death marks its beginning. What this plan entails is unknown, but System-34, with the help from The Guardian, hopes that it can find a solution within the depths of the long-since-pillaged Vault of Glass to put a stop to Hezen once and for all.
