While the choice of race is mostly aesthetic, the choice of class will have more impact. Note that all three classes have access to the same weapons, and are not "locked in" to any particular role. However, each class can specialize in a particular direction depending on which subclass the player is using. Choice of subclass will determine what [[Super ability]] the player can use, as well as what bonuses and other lesser abilities they'll have access to. Subclasses can be leveled up and switched on the fly, allowing a single character a degree of flexibility for different combat scenarios.

Guardians, protectors of humanity.

The Guardians are a group of protectors tasked with the protection of the City from outside threats.

Overview

The Guardians' origins stem back to that of the City itself, in the wars that followed the Collapse.[1] Guardians of the present are chosen from the ranks of ancient dead by the Ghosts of the Traveler.[2]

Equipped with an advanced arsenal of weaponry and vehicles, as well as the ability to channel the Traveler's power (referred to by some as "magic"),[3] Guardians traverse the solar system in individual starships capable of interplanetary travel. These ships can vary in size and firepower and can be modified for specific purposes. Among other missions, their priority is to combat the malicious alien races that came to inhabit the solar system between the time that humanity was pushed back to Earth and when they began to take to the stars again.[citation needed]

Gameplay

There are three known classes of Guardian: Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans. Hunters are believed to utilize swiftness, accuracy, and possibly stealth. It has also been alluded to that Hunters are more of a sniper class. Warlocks can use the power of the Traveler, as shown by their three abilities, and Titans are believed to be able to both take and deal massive amounts of damage. [4] Titans emphasize armor and raw power, while warlocks emphasize the use of their magical abilities and agility. Hunters fall in between both classes.[5] The Guardians include members of the human, Awoken and Exo races, and can be either male or female.

While the choice of race is mostly aesthetic, the choice of class will have more impact. Note that all three classes have access to the same weapons, and are not "locked in" to any particular role. However, each class can specialize in a particular direction depending on which subclass the player is using. Choice of subclass will determine what Super the player can use, as well as what bonuses and other lesser abilities they'll have access to. Subclasses can be leveled up and switched on the fly, allowing a single character a degree of flexibility for different combat scenarios.

Guardians have 4 confirmed statistics: Energy, Shields, Agility and Discipline.[6] The exact nature of these stats, and their effect on gameplay, is unknown at this time.

Customization

In Destiny, the player will be able to customize their Guardian as mentioned in GDC 2014. The changeable parts are the head, chest, arms, and legs. The helmet will also be customizable with various "gears". It will also include clothing such as robes and capes. [7] The software for editing Guardians is called Mash Up and will most likely be on PC.[8]

Trivia

Bungie possibly got the idea for customization from the Halo series as pictures from Halo: Reach's armory are shown as "Start with what you know" on Imgur.
