The Lamia is a variant of Hydra that lacks the Rotating Shields and is instead equipped with a Strand Absoprtion Shield and either Arc Slap Rifles or an Arc Aeon Maul. They are capable of deploying Seekers to explode on people and can fire Force Cages like those used by Argos. They can be confused for Hydras due to their deceptive appearance. However this fascade is immediately shattered when multiple darts of vex data are launched at targets dealing heavy Strand damage.

Gameplay

Lamias are deceptive Vex ambush units designed to lure enemies into unfavorable engagements. On radar and scanners they resemble ordinary Hydras, often causing opponents to underestimate the threat they pose. Unlike Hydras however, Lamias lack Rotating Shields and instead rely on a powerful Strand Absorption Shield to withstand incoming fire while maneuvering into advantageous positions. In combat, Lamias specialize in trapping and isolating targets. They launch volleys of Strand Threaded Datalattice Needles that pursue enemies before detonating in bursts of Strand energy, quickly revealing that they are far more dangerous than a standard Hydra. To prevent escape, Lamias deploy Arc Force Cages, creating barriers of Arc energy that imprison targets within a detainment field while simultaneously restricting movement across the battlefield. Lesser Lamias support allied Vex with sustained fire from their Arc Slap Rifles, while Ultra Lamias replace these weapons with a devastating Arc Aeon Maul. A Lamia's preferred tactic is to entrap its prey, overwhelm them with Seekers, and allow nearby Vex forces to eliminate targets before they can break free. A word of note; their Force Cage seems to lack the killing property that the one used by Argos has.
