Banes are a combatant-oriented PvE modifier introduced in Episode: Revenant that grants a special ability to any combatants except for Champions and bosses. These Banes are found exclusively in higher difficulty activities like Legend Nightfalls and are randomized. Banes are identified by a colored orb or arc floating above their head. They can also be noted by their lack of shield as all Banes lose their Absorption Shields. Even combatants who gain one in higher difficulty activities. Prior to Edge of Fate, all Banes could still have Absorption shields.

Fractures Banes[edit]
- Beacon - Combatants with the Beacon bane mark targets, drawing enemy aggression and focus. You will be hunted.
- Combatants with the Beacon bane mark targets and draw the attention of nearby allies. Affected enemies become more aggressive and will prioritize marked Guardians.
- Countering this Bane is straightforward; Kill the Beacon Bane immediately to break focus behavior, use cover to disrupt enemy pathing, Invisibility breaks target priority temporarily, Displacement (forced movement, blinds, freezes) reduces pressure.
- Bulwark - Guarded from Long Range, you must breach their bubble to slay these powerful combatants and any of their Guarded allies.
- The combatant has an Immunity Dome that negates long range attacks, in order to damage the combatant and any allies around it, the dome must be entered. The combatant when Suppressed loses this dome for the duration of the Suppression.
- Mirage - Combatants with the Mirage bane create decoys that mimic them. Find the real one quickly.
- Combatants with the Mirage bane create decoy duplicates during combat. These illusions mimic movement and attacks but vanish when struck.
- Decoys are destroyed on taking any damage, Precision damage reveals the real target, AoE effects clear multiple illusions quickly, tracking abilities ignore decoys (except for swarm like grenades and Threadlings), Killing the Bane despawns all decoys.
- Nullifier - Combatants with the Nullifier bane suppress abilities and disable active effects. Keep your distance or shut them down fast.
- Combatants with the Nullifier bane emit a suppressive field that disables abilities and active effects on nearby Guardians. Entering their presence strips buffs and prevents ability usage for a short duration.
- Stay outside the suppression radius, use Burst damage to eliminate quickly, Suppression does not disable this effect, Line of sight does not matter, Mobility tools help disengage if activated prior to exposure.
- Thorns - Whenever an Affected combatant would take damage, its attacker would take half the same damage.
- The combatant deals half damage that it takes back at its attackers.
