Strike is a cooperative mode featured in Destiny. They are 30 minute quests designed for a fireteam of three players, with a boss battle at the end. Enemy composition is varied, and different each time.[1]

Strike Playlists

Higher-level versions of each strike are available in the strike playlists. Entering a playlist will launch a random strike alongside two matchmade players.

  • Vanguard Eagle - level 18
  • Vangaurd Viper - level 20
  • Vanguard Wolf - level 22
  • Vanguard Tiger - level 24
  • Vangaurd Roc - level 26
  • Vanguard Dragon - level 28

The Taken King will replace the above playlists with three new ones:

  • Vanguard Legacy - includes all Year One strikes only, no modifiers
  • Vanguard Ursa - includes all Year One and Year Two strikes, Heroic modifier active
  • Vanguard Marmoset - includes all Year Two strikes only, no modifiers

Weekly Strikes

Heroic and Nightfall versions of each strike are available each week for a higher-difficulty challenge, with greater rewards available. Heroic Weekly Strikes feature the Heroic modifier active in addition to one other randomly-chosen modifier. Nightfall Strikes feature the Nightfall and Epic modifiers active in addition to three other randomly-chosen modifiers; after The Taken King is released, the latter three modifiers will be manually selected by Bungie each week instead of randomized.

Nightfall Strikes do not include matchmaking, requiring players to fight alone or assemble a fireteam of three before starting. Heroic Weekly Strikes formerly did not include matchmaking either, but as of patch 1.1.1, they became a matchmaking activity.[2]
